Lounge Chair by Kyle Buckner

lounge chair 01 curatedmag Lounge Chair by Kyle Buckner

Curated reports on this good looking Lounge Chair.

“Terrific.

American designer Kyle Buckner’s recent “Lounge Chair” carved from layered pine curves gracefully from foot to head. Buckner will “design or build just about anything,” however in pieces like this chair he really finds a voice. The stain is red mahogany, the cushions (quite naturally) are leather.”

Jas M.B Oversized Leather Rucksack

Selectism - jas-mb-leather-rucksack-01

With all the hype around handmade goods, we don’t think we’ve ever mentioned that Jas M.B’s are handmade in England. Well, they are. And there’s also the added bonus of the bag looking really good as well as having a nice and cozy ‘handmade’ story to tell. It doesn’t have the workwear ruggedness of it’s canvas counterpart, so it’s perfect for folks who aren’t really into that look (contrary to popular belief, those folks still exist). [ASOS]

Alden “The Natural” for TheShoeMart

selectism - Alden "The Natural" for TheShoeMart

Since 1956, Norwalk, CT’s TheShoeMart has been carrying more Alden shoes than pretty much anyone. So, it stands to reason that the store would carry an interesting range of exclusives. “The Natural” made just for TheShoeMart, employs “Genuine Horween “Natural” Chome Exel Calfskin.” The results are superb.

Norwalk is also home to Swanky Frank’s (terrific place)… as if you needed more excuses to go to Norwalk.

The charming, low budget sign that explains “The Natural” at TheShoeMart, more looks from the collection, and a photo of my lunch from Swanky Frank’s after the jump.

adidas Stan Smith 80’s Mid

Selectism - adidas-stan-smith-mid-01

A good mid top trainer isn’t necessarily an essential (in fact, you can make that argument for 99% of the stuff we put up) but it’s always a nice added bonus. These adidas mid-top Stan Smiths make a nice change from the trainer that dominated our wardrobes growing up and they’re an easy wear. No need to spend time wondering what to wear with (especially with spice school taking up all of our time). [End]

Selectism - Abandoned Six Flags - New Orleans

Beau Colburn loves Dorado fish tacos…

01. The King Of The Ferret Leggers
“Loyal to nothing that lives, the ferret has only one characteristic that might be deemed positive — a tenacious, single-minded belief in finishing whatever it starts. That usually entails biting off whatever it bites. The rules of ferret legging do allow the leggers to try to knock the ferret off a spot it’s biting (from outside the trousers only), but that is no small matter, as ferrets never let go.” (deadspin )
02. Abandoned Six Flags – New Orleans (above)
“Eastern New Orleans was badly flooded in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The park grounds are located on a low-lying section of Eastern New Orleans, with a 6-foot earthen flood berm running along the perimeter, creating an artificial basin. After the park’s drainage pumps failed during the storm, the berm retained the combination of rainwater and sea water overflow from Lake Pontchartrain caused by Katrina’s massive storm surge, submerging the entire park grounds in corrosive, brackish floodwater to a depth of 4–7 feet. The floodwater was not drained for over a month.” (flickr)

03. JFK Library: JFK For President on Twitter
“The JFK Library will be tweeting each step of the historical campaign launched 50 years ago, on twitter.com/kennedy1960. Accompanying print ads and posters feature classic photographs from the campaign, along with tweet bubbles featuring a QR code that will lead readers straight to the feed.” (creativity)

04. How John McEnroe Plans To Save Tennis
“That’s what touched a nerve in McEnroe, who believes that complete immersion in the sport from prepubescence on has created a generation of robotic, burned-out, and one-dimensional players. His way, what he aims to make the way, involves a more balanced approach, in which tennis is part of an elite prodigy’s life, not the definition of it. It’s how he sees tennis in his own life.” (newyork)

Selectism - Profile on NYC's Left Field

This is a strong read about one of America’s more interesting working man companies, founded in the last ten years. CWAC’s assessment is pretty on point: ‘Long before L.L.Bean went Signature, or Lands End went Canvas, or J.Crew went Red Wing, there was Left Field NYC. Founded by Christian McCann, the Brooklyn-based label has been churning out rugged, American-made goods since chambray was still putting the blue in blue collar. “We have been in business for over 10 years,” explains McCann, “and have always strived to make quality, made in America clothing at a fair price.’”
