Lou Dalton Zip Trousers

Selectism - lou-dalton-zip-trousers-01

From something office friendly to something that definitely isn’t, here’s a some trousers with some nicely placed zips on them. They wouldn’t suit the workplace (though that depends what sort of office you work in) but they’d be great for every other casual occasion. We’ve mocked those ‘how to wear it’ articles for a while now, but we won’t blame you if you were unsure of how to wear these. For the record, they’d work well with either mid tops (as you can see in the picture), chukkas or some desert boots. But try out some different combos for yourself, a little trial and error never hurt nobody. (Daniel Jenkins)

Property Of ‘Tommy’ Work Bag

Selectism - property-of-work-bag-01

Still need an office worthy bag? Well, here’s something that should sate your bag appetite. Well, at least it will until the next bag we put up. Like most fashion/menswear sites we sometimes neglect the fact that most folks don’t spend their entire week waltzing around town in suede bucks and neckerchiefs (as we do) – so here’s something you can easily carry into an office meeting. 01. 10 Cam’ron Tracks With Killa Soul

“Earlier this week Cam’ron leaked two new joints, “Fairytale,” a forgettable track featuring a hook by Avery Storm, and “Wanna Get,” a smooth, laid back cut that seemed to evoke classic Killa—a side of the Harlem rapper that listeners haven’t heard in years.” (XXL).

02. Farringdon Laptop Desk by Leonhard Pfeifer

“Conceived for apartments and small spaces, the Farringdon Laptop Desk by Leonhard Pfeifer for Woodman features a sliding work-top that can be extended to increase the work surface, while minimizing the footprint of the desk. It won the “best product” award for the Loft category at Maison & Objet in Paris this past month. Selected for its sleek design and small footprint, the desk has integrated cable management to accommodate laptops or flat screen monitors, external hard drives and phones. The desk sits on solid oak legs, and integrates the sliding worktop and an open shelf for papers.” (Design Milk).

03. The Mexican Suitcase at ICP (Above).

“WAR IS HELL! screams the 72-point headline of a magazine photo-essay by Robert Capa in the late 1930s. The photographer who famously said, “If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough,” changed the way the public came to expect information from the front lines to be delivered by embedding himself with the troops. He began doing this during the Spanish Civil War, and his most famous images from that bloody conflict have, until now, been seen only through magazine reproductions and reproductions of those reproductions.” (DART).

04. Pavlik, Rigondeaux & Jones Headed to Cowboys Stadium!

“ARLINGTON, TX (September 27, 2010) — Former World Middleweight Champion KELLY “The Ghost” PAVLIK will be embarking on his professional comeback, headlining the televised undercard for the 12-round World Boxing Council (WBC) super welterweight championship between combined 10-time world champions CONGRESSMAN MANNY PACQUIAO and the “Tijuana Tornado” ANTONIO MARGARITO. Pavlik will be taking on Texan BRIAN VERA in a 10-round bout. The pay-per-view undercard will also feature boxing’s wunderkind GUILLERMO RIGONDEAUX, challenging for a world title in only his seventh professional bout, in a 12-round rumble with former world champion RICARDO CORDOBA for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) interim super bantamweight championship. The exciting telecast will open with undefeated top-rated welterweight contender MIKE JONES defending his North America Boxing Association (NABA) and North America Boxing Organization (NABO) welterweight belts against Top-10 contender JESUS SOTO-KARASS..” (East Side Boxing).

Norse Projects Bubble T Neck Zip-Up Cardigan

Selectism - Norse Projects Bubble T Neck Zip-Up Cardigan

The texture of the ribbing is what sold me on this zi-up cardigan from Norse Projects. It allows for the solid color to pop a bit more than usual. The best part is that the Norse Project fit seems to even for the gents under 5′8″ (raises hand). “Zip front cardigan in a superfine wool. Textured ribbing around chest, bottom and near cuffs. T-neck styling.” Need Supply has them.

Harmon Army Fisherman Pants

Selectism - Harmon Army Fisherman Pants

Dinner last night with some editors brought a conversation on the military trend. Her argument was that it is almost “expected” in collections for Autumn. True as they may be, there are still garments which look to refine and use military as an inspiration for something more mixed. These pants are a prime example. “Army woven cotton pants with a low, dropped crotch and loose fit… Light pleating along front seat seam for added fullness with quilted stitching at pieced knee cap.” OAK has them.

Decho Vintage Farmer Hat

Selectism - Decho Vintage Farmer Hat

I’m not so clear how this is vintage “farmer” but would happily correct myself if shown. Regardless, Decho is producing great men’s caps and hats – of course, they are mostly available in the Japanese market. Colorwise, this is proper and shines bright as a stand out chill-out look. Think late 80’s, early 90’s Isle of Wright. Utility Coop has them. #proxyproxy

Princeton Architectural Press has released a new collection of writings on the subjects of  graphic design, music, and more. “Volume—a word that refers to sound, collections, and the measurement of space—is a crucial characteristic of both graphic design and popular music. While expressing different aspects of these two pervasive cultural mediums, the term also introduces a discussion on their many links. Volume: Writings on Graphic Design, Music, Art, and Culture Volume: Writings on Graphic Design, Music, Art, and Culture is a collection of both new and classic writings by frequent Emigre contributor and educator Kenneth FitzGerald that survey the discipline of graphic design in context with the parallel creative fields of contemporary music and art.
