selectism - "Tunes: A Comic Book History of Rock and Roll" Book

Edited by Vincent Brunner, with preface by Mathias Malzieu, Tunes Tunes: A Comic Book History of Rock and Roll Book takes readers through key moments in rock history. Brunner, a music journalist, utilizes comic book and graphic novel format to keep things moving with a fast and engaging pace. Sure, the general idea of a comic book history of rock and roll seems a little juvenile. But, Brunner’s selected moments are quirky and full of fun.

Tunes Tunes: A Comic Book History of Rock and Roll Book is published by Universal (2010). Available from Amazon Tunes: A Comic Book History of Rock and Roll Book .

A pair of tapered pants for the gents coming from the Jil Sander Autumn 2010 collection. “Jil Sander trousers in a relaxed silhouette, gutos hook fastener on the waist band and a zip fly. These pants have a slim and tapered cut with a long crotch for extra comfort (and the fabric has a slight stretch to it). Detail includes straight, vertical and horizontal pocket openings at the front and back of trousers.” Oki-ni has them.

Outlier Liberated Wool Peacoat

selectism - Outlier Liberated Wool Peacoat

Outlier continues to make strides and push the potential of high tech fabrics to meet the needs of traditional silhouettes. “A classic wool peacoat reengineered for a life of freedom. We’ve always loved vintage navy peacoats, there is nothing better for walking around town on a cold wet winter morning. Problem is the traditional fabric is so constrictive you can barely reach a subway staphanger, let alone get comfortable riding your bike in one. The Liberated Wool Peacoat keeps the classic peacoat aesthetics but uses an innovative cut and a 2.5 layer wool softshell fabric to create a cool weather jacket fit for motion and comfort.”

The wool outer (which is yarn dyed) is held to a fleece interior with a wind and water resistant polyurethane bond.

Whillas & Gunn ‘Kingsford’ Waxed Jacket

Selectism - whillas-gunn-waxed-jacket-01

Get your heritage on in this waxed jacket (we’ve heard that’s in nowadays). We’ve done no research to back this up but we’ve heard and that girls and boys fall into your lap if you wear waxed jackets: It’s pretty much the lynx effect of clothing. And if that doesn’t happen, at least you’ll have a nice jacket. (Three Threads)

Monitaly Duck Cloth Mountain Parka

Selectism - monitaly-parka-01

The coat cavalcade continues with this Monitaly Parka. It’s done the tumblr rounds yesterday but we felt it deserved a spot here on SL. We know the red’s a bit too bright for some folks, but we like the fact that we’re much less likely to get run over in the dark. Tell that to your navy coat loving friends. (Run of the Mill)

Cire Trudon Store New York

Today we passed by the new Cire Trudon flagship store on Bond Street in New York City. The centuries old brand from Paris will be opening the new retail store this week and is showcasing its entire range of candles in it. While we have plenty of high end candle makers in the market place today, Cire Trudon really makes their product look like art.
