Selectism - Round House Duck Double Front Dungarees

Round House has made overalls for railroad workers in Shawnee, Oklahoma since 1903. The “chap-style double front” and “heavyweight” pants feature new “cellphone pockets,” as well as a “rule pocket and a hammer loop on the side.” The workwear-fuller leg style promotes a comfortable fit and can accompany any boot. A great addition to any work-wear pant collection these dungarees. (gb)

Russell Moccasin Chukka Boot

Selectism - Russell Moccasin Chukka Boot

The original moccasin company that has been manufacturing shoes and boots for over 10 decades, releases their Chukka boot. These hybrid shoes fill the “gap between the sport oxford and a regular boot.” The great part about this boot/shoe is the “uppers are specially tanned to make them water repellent,” and have “crepe rubber soles” that are really comfortable and are seen in many of todays current style shoes. With the hand sewn toe seams, this Chukka can keep up with all the other Chukkas out there. Russell shoes are proudly made in the U.S.A and are available at Russellmocassin.com. (gb)

“The film takes inspiration from the hedonistic Post-punk sub-culture of the 1970’s, and is set in Sydney’s contemporary art and music community. The story unfolds around a broken relationship and has dual interpretations: one sequentially, and another where the time line is interspersed with the central character’s memories.”

Dogzilla Black IPA

No, Jason, this post is not about Devlin’s Dagenham-based mentor.

It is, in fact, about Laughing Dog Brewing, of Standpoint, Iowa. Their Dogzilla is another nod to the growing interest and return of the black IPA. Here’s what they say  – “True to its IPA roots Dogzilla has a massive hop presence that is Piney and Citrusy. A malty backbone, along with the dark malt gives it a bit of a roasty finish. Brewed with Simcoe and Cascade Hops, Pale Malt, Munich, and Black Barley.”

Dogzilla hits at 6.9%abv and sells in 22oz bottles.

We’ve been tired of checks on shirting for a while (yeah, yeah, call it a ’staple’ if you want, so were jodphurs at one point) but we can’t get enough of it on our outerwear. In fact, to contradict ourselves, we’d probably wear this check-on-check-on-check (coat-cardigan-shirt). If you’re gonna go checked, you might as well go all the way. (CHCM)

Versus “Tosom 2″ Chair

selectism - Versus "Tosom 2" Chair

Young, Norwegian designer Marte Frøystad champions informality with her “Tosom 2″ chair from Danish firm Versus. Frøystad, who runs the design studio Frøystad + Klock, essentially creates the type of seating furniture that invites users to curl up with a good book… or with a lover (think twosome). Or, to otherwise recline free of worry. The seat is formed of wooden frame and polyurethane, and sits on stainless steel legs.

Versus “Brick” sofa has had a good amount of publicity the last few days. The “Tosom 2,” while not as sculptural, deserves attention too.

Yep, we’re still recommending varsities – we really don’t care whether someone else says they’re out or not – as long they still look good, we’ll keep posting them. And this one does look good. It looks like one for the slimmer fellow, mind, but good nonetheless. In the words of a million awful rappers,  it’s perfect to get your ’swag’n on’. Apologies for the awful phrase just there, we’re trying to be down with the kidz. (The Corner)

Selectism - Tom Waits Releases 78 RPM Record and Player

Pitchfork gets the scoop on some ole time music style from Tom Waits. “On November 19th, Preservation Hall Recordings will release 504 limited edition hand-numbered 78 rpm vinyl records featuring two tracks by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band with very special guest Tom Waits. Proceeds from the sale of this very special project will benefit the Preservation Hall Junior Jazz & Heritage Brass Band.
Mr. Waits traveled to New Orleans in 2009 to record two songs with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band for the critically acclaimed project Preservation: An album to benefit Preservation Hall and the Preservation Hall Music Outreach Program, “Tootie Ma Was A Big Fine Thing” , and “Corrine Died On The Battlefield”. Originally recorded by Danny Barker in 1947, these two selections are the earliest known recorded examples of Mardi Gras Indian chants.”
