We just came across a beautiful editorial from Vogue Hommes International, entitled “Faux Semblants”. Shot by Willy Vanderperre, they combine beautiful masks with well put together outfits. Is it just us or are masks all over at the moment? From Givenchy to a recent exhibition in Milan, involving a high profile line-up of high fashion designers, the mask seems to be an important new accessory or at least visual element.

The leather motorcycle jacket has come back strong in recent seasons, without ever really having been gone. There are several things that we love about this classic piece – if you buy a good one it only gets nicer over time and you can actually keep the rest of your outfit extremely simple when wearing such a jacket. Funnily we have noticed that with more and more brands offering the style, it becomes increasingly difficult to actually find a very simple, minimalist version of it. Patches, branding, extra zippers and who knows what, distract from the essential. Also it is one of those pieces that we can only suggest to invest into – you do not buy leather jackets every day and if you invest in quality, it will never leave you again.

Here above is one of the nicer ones that we came across recently from THECAST. The small New York brand only uses the finest leathers and entirely produces the jackets in NYC.

Premium shoemaker n.d.c. made by hand presents from their Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection the “Alaska”, a winter version of their popular boat shoe silhouette. The shoe is almost like a fusion of a boat shoe and a Wallabee. We love the premium leather used on them, the aged effects and the fact that they are not too rugged. They are now available in a series of colorways from 14oz Berlin.

HB reminds us to look at the ever edgy shoes from Lanvin for Spring 2011. “The French label continues to match sport with luxury aesthetics, with each model in the collection featuring premium materials, blended with durable design elements. OPENERS Japan always brings the ultra-luxe to the forefront. Check this Lambo work done in conjunction with Blacnspain.  While not the first time we’ve seen helping hands work over interiors in high end luxury cars, this may well be my favorite. The work is a celebration of the partnership of the auto line with one of the world’s oldest watch makers.

Issue 6 of cycling journal, Embrocation, is getting ready to hit shops. The cover focuses on Ma.’s own Indepent Fabrications’s head painter, Clint, and his work in the industry. You’ll also find a variety of photos shoots around the globe as well as aerial shots from the Tour of Battenkill. A wonderful issue throughout. (That’s Clint in the painter’s helmet above).
