01. A Complicated Man: The Life of Bill Clinton as Told by Those Who Know Him

“In this, the first complete oral history of Clinton’s life, historian Michael Takiff presents the first truly balanced book on one of our nation’s most controversial and fascinating presidents. Through more than 150 chronologically arranged interviews with key figures including Bob Dole, James Carville, and Tom Brokaw, among many others, A Complicated Man goes far beyond the well-worn party-line territory to capture the larger-than-life essence of Clinton the man. With the tremendous attention given to the Lewinsky scandal, it is easy to overlook the president’s humble upbringing, as well as his many achievements at home and abroad: the longest economic boom in American history, a balanced budget, successful intervention in the Balkans, and a series of landmark, if controversial, free-trade agreements. Through the candid recollections of Takiff’s many subjects, A Complicated Man leaves no area unexplored, revealing the most complete and unexpected portrait of our forty-second president published to date.” (YUP).

02. Grass Fed | Trash Picking and the Best Chef in the World

“Back before Frank Bruni wrote his profile of Rene Redzepi — the chef of Noma, the Danish restaurant that was recently named as the best in the world by an influential European poll — for The Times, I thought I might be doing the same thing.” (T).

03. FIFA 11 Soccer – Steve Nash And Landon Donovan (Above)

“Steve Nash and Landon Donovan star in part 1 of this series which follows Nash’s attempts to play EA SPORTS FIFA Soccer 11 against Donovan and enter the EA SPORTS Pro Player Challenge. The EA SPORTS Pro Player Challenge is a new competition that will identify the best FIFA Soccer 11 gamer among professional soccer players.” (Original Winger).

04. BMW Guggenheim Lab

“In the next six years, a new collaboration between the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and the BMW Group is seeking to explore various issues of urban life. Three labs, which will be assigned a theme, an architect, and a graphic designer, will be placed in major cities that will engage the public, bringing people together to discuss and experiment with new ideas.   Traveling across the globe, the labs will interact with people from all different backgrounds and cultures with the intention to shed light upon a broad spectrum of issues.” (Arch Daily).

Selectism - Style Craft Bags and Accessories

Japan’s Style Craft gets some live from our most favorite of Italo bloggers. “Nanno Jiro is the designer and the founder of Style Craft a small label that produces handmade leather accessories and some shoes. A small production made with the highest quality leathers and dyed with natural processes. Very nice bags and accessories with simple lines and clean, completely handmade, with great care.” Hand down excellent product photography.

Selectism - Norse Projects Janus Stripe Shirt

Norse Projects continues to impress. Autumn is o exception. This made in Europe shirt is a great exaple of simple design, and fit and at a non-outlandish price. The “Janus Stripe” shirt looks to have a woven stripe which is a bit thinner than a hickory finish. They describe it as “fluffy.” c-store has them.

Moleskine Folio Covers for iPhone and iPad

Selectism - Moleskin Covers for iPhone and iPad

It was only a matter of time until Moleskine got into the iPhone and iPad cover game.  With a number of cases already on the market that emulate the look and feel of the iconic notebook, this new line brings the trademarks Moleskine is known for—rounded corners, a smooth black cover, and an elastic to keep it sealed tight—to digital device protection.  If you’re not quite ready to give up your pen and paper for a touchscreen keyboard, each case holds a soft-cover Volant notebook on the flap opposite the device.

Most of us around these parts have plenty of opinions on notebooks and Apple products, and this new line looks to be an interesting way to combine them. (bc)

selectism - Expresso Espresso Cups

As we’ve featured a few espresso machines in the past, it seems worthwhile to mention a nice set of cups to accompany which ever one you’ve chosen (or lust after).

Design Milk notes the Expresso Espresso Cup, which caught my attention because while they are produced from a 3-D computer drawing, the shape derives from traditional handmade Dutch ceramics. The firm behind the Expresso Espresso Cups is BuroJet, a studio located in Eindhoven.

A few more snaps of the Expresso Espresso Cups.
