Albert Watson’s new monograph, UFO (Unified Fashion Objectives), a 40-year retrospective of his best work, features 364 color and black-and-white photographs, and a forward by photo historian and curator Gail Buckland. Watson has made his mark as one of the world’s most successful fashion and commercial photographers during the last four decades. His striking images have appeared on more than 100 covers of Vogue around the world.

UFO features Watson’s portraits of some of the world’s most celebrated figures, including Michael Jackson, Prince, P. Diddy,  David Bowie, Johnny Depp, Jack Nicholson, Sean Penn, Joaquin Phoenix,  Quentin Tarantino, Grace Jones, Sade, Beyonce, Scarlett Johansson, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Brooke Shields, Lauren Hutton, Janice Dickinson, and Christie Brinkley, among many more.

The book is set for November 2010 publication from PQ Blackwell.

You have options when it comes to naval inspired coats. Esquire’s “Big Book” lists some excellent numbers this season, but Folk offer a decent one for a fair price. “Navy wool pea coat in a textured waffle fabric. A double breast cut, fastening with wooden buttons and a buckle strap at the collar, this piece has a waist drawstring and is fully lined. Brooks Brother’s Black Fleece brings some new goodness to the proper boot game with their “Coniston” boot for Autumn 2010. The boots are made in England and feature a “double welted rubber studded sole to help prevent slipping…Storm welt [and] leather locker loop.” The blue color is in line with their strategy (of course).

Over the past few years, the Thos. Moser brand has branched away from traditional American furniture forms and taken a few risks with line and overall aesthetic. David Moser’s latest design, the “New Harbor Lounge Chair and Ottoman,” is indicative of this experimentation.  While claims of gravity defiance are easily dismissed, the lightness of stance is undeniable.

We don’t feature much Nike on these shores (HS has that covered) but we feel this could be of interest to your snazzy fellows. Yes, we said snazzy. With all the collabs these days, this one slipped through the net but the end results are some clean pieces like this Ekiden jacket. If we were being fussy we’d say lose the numbers, but aside from that, we like it. (Tres Bien)

We’ve raved about File magazine before and now the fourth issue’s out, so we’re going to rave some more (about the magazine, we’re not going to a party). File’s USP is that, in their own words, it’s a magazine to “watch and read”. We haven’t got our mitts on an issue yet, but what we have seen – which is shown after the jump – looks intriguing. There’s also several short stories and a documentary on the watchable half of the magazine that’ll be sure to keep your attention for a while yet. (File Magazine)

Well they say you should not cycle in denim jeans. Something about the sweat and breathability. I wonder if the same is true for your head? Either way this is a fine example of a cycling hat. Properly sewn and beatiful. Japanese made as well. Utility Coop has them.
