Raf Simons Double Breasted Short Jacket

A unique take on the wool coat for Winter from Raf Simons. Love the varsity style buttons. “For those of you who accustomed to Mr. Simons clean cuts and tailored silhouettes this short jacket will come as no surprise. Made in a midnight blue heavy wool, this double breasted jacket features a magnetic snap closure.” PV has them.

The evolution of footwork

01. LA Police Department’s stolen art database

“Laura Cochrane says: “The LAPD keeps a database of artwork that has been stolen. It’s interesting, because I think these are mostly pieces are from people’s private collections” (bb)

02. Spielberg’s Abe Lincoln movie

“It’s called Lincoln and will be a collection of the talents of Steven Spielberg (director), Daniel Day-Lewis (plays Lincoln), Doris Kearns Goodwin (wrote the book), and Tony Kushner (screenplay).” (kottke)

03. The evolution of footwork (above)

“The hyper-local scene burst onto the world stage in the past few months, but it’s been around for nearly a decade. Chicago’s Dave Quam charts its beginnings as an outgrowth of ghetto house to its current form.” (residentadvisor)

04. Sharpie UK at London Fashion Weekend

“Wow – what a busy month we’ve had in the UK! But now I’ve finally recovered and am feeling far more alive I can fill you guys in on how fabulous Sharpie was at London Fashion Weekend. Just to give you the lowdown (if you don’t know already), Sharpie was one of the official partners of this fashion-fuelled frenzy and as such we got the opportunity to have our very own stand at the event – see below for evidence…” (sharpie)

Taylor Supply “Hill Climber” Jacket

19 November 2010, 22.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

Taylor Supply "Hill Climber" Jacket

Christophe Hascoat founder of Taylor Supply gives his take on the classic “hill climber” jacket. “The name taylor is dedicated to Christophe’s great great-grand father who immigrated to the US in the early 1800s.” A cabinetmaker by trade, Taylor was was keen on the concept of craftsmanship and Hascoat has introduced this into his collection by taking these traits into his own designs. The “Hill Climber” Jacket is a waxed cotton canvas that has a “single inner pocket, two-front flaps pockets and comes with a Japanese cotton poplin lining with a wool lined collar. A great take on a very classic jacket. The jacket is available at NeedSupply.

Quoddy Road Chukka Redux

More takes on the legendary Quoddy boots. During my last NYC visit, a friend just in from France asked where he could acquire a pair. Expect more reach in the EU shortly from this brand beyond the boutique houses. “These boots are made in Tan Muleskinner a waxy finished rough out leather that is water repellent and great looking. Like all Quoddy shoes and boots these chukkas are handsewn in Maine and incredibly comfortable.” Leffot in NYC has these.
