Surface to Air Shawl Cardigan

10 November 2010, 22.00 | Posted in Fashion | 1 comment »

Surface to Air Shawl Cardigan

Surface to Air designs their take on the classic shawl cardigan. Made of 100% Merino wool, this piece would layer perfectly over any outfit. They used a “special waffle knit technique” and “S2A engraved buttons” to line the front of the cardigan. The piece comes in two different colors: “V1” is a camel colored brown and “V2” is black. An article from a respected brand that comes for the Fall season. The cardigan is available at SurfaceToAir. (gb)

“How To Be a Man” Book

"How To Be a Man" Book

With a title like, How To Be a Man: A Guide To Style and Behavior For The Modern Gentleman How To Be a Man Book, Mr. O’Brien has my attention. The only unfortunate thing is that this new collection of O’Brien’s words of wisdom on all things gentleman will not be available until April 2011. “How To Be a Man How To Be a Man Book is the culmination of O’Brien’s thirty years of accumulated style and etiquette wisdom, distilled through his gimlet eye and droll prose. With over forty chapters on style and fashion (and the difference), on dandies and dudes, grooming and decorating, on how to dress age-appropriately and how to age gracefully, this guide is the new essential read for men of all ages.” I guess we wait… for now.

This one will be essential. Coming to you from Rizzoli. Pre-order now from Amazon How To Be a Man Book.

Block Headwear Knit Bandanas

Block Headwear Knit Bandanas

Block Headwear was created by Cuban-born designer Ciomi McCabe who grew up in the hat business. She developed her craft at Kangol where her father was CFO. The company takes its name from the actual process of producing a hat.  The “Knit Bandana” comes in black, heather gray and a maroon finish. The beanie comes collapsed in the back to give a different aesthetic on a traditional beanie. I’ve had this hat and it was really warm in the winter and sat well. It really draped well over time and I almost never took it off. The knitwear collection is available Blockwear. (gb)

JeanRichard Titanium Diverscope Watch

JeanRichard Titanium Diverscope Watch

The latest from JeanRichard in the form of  newly fabricated diver. “JeanRichard is actually part of the Sowind Group, which is better known for its ownership of Girard-Perregaux.   The Obvious distinguishing feature of the new JeanRichard Diverscope Titanium is its sand-blasted titanium case.  The tonneau shaped case with round bezel is a signature of the Diverscope line.  Man does it look good, I’ll bet that this watch’s light weight defies its capability and value!” (perpetuelle)

The real deal: German issue pocket knives available on this side of the Ocean. “These are brand newVictorinox knives made exclusively for the German Army (Bundeswehr) with olive drab nylon handles. This is a real work tool that won’t let you down.” If you did not know Country COMM before, you’ll be thanking us now.

105 Lounge Chair by Robert Janson

selectism - 105 Lounge Chair by Robert Janson

Consider this a little preview of Stockholm Design Week 2011.

Thanks to Design Milk, we can show the 105 Lounge Chair by student Robert Janson. Simple in form, the chair consists of welded steel legs and a solid elm seat. The seat, clearly, is star of the show evoking more than one Scandinavian design classic. For my money, the shallow angle of the arms and seat back gives Janson’s creation a refined stance.

More looks after the jump.

Hideyuki Nakayamas A Room in the Glass Globe

Now here’s a collab we can get behind. Architect Hideyuki Nakayama has teamed up door handle manufacturers Union to create the this glass globe doorknob. On display at Plain People in Aoyama, the door knob shows a reflection of the room on the other side of the door and, as you can see, it makes for a great effect. (Spoon & Tamago)

SASQUATCHfabrix ‘Etoto’ Socks

Selectism - Sasquatchfabrix-etoto-socks-01

Socks are often treated like the forgotten sibling in menswear – mainly because it’s impossible to write about them without sounding like a trainspotter – but here’s some we’d like to flag up. We don’t have much to say about this socks – they look good in the pictures, they’ll look even better on your feet. And that’s all there is to it. (LN-CC)
