Crescent Down Works for J.Crew Down Jacket

J. Crew continues to tap “Made in the U.S.A” with this down jacket project from Seattle’s Crescent Down Works. “Made just for J.Crew, this is the first true down coat we’ve offered, and it’s a classic (this channeled puffer style hasn’t changed since they first designed it more than 30 years ago). Featuring interior and exterior slash pockets, a drawcord at the hem for added insulation and a locker loop at the back neck..”

George Cox for Oki-ni Chukka Boots

Oki-ni works over some George Cox chukkas for a personal exclusive. “oki-ni have reworked George Cox’s classic Chukka into three distinct boots for Fall 10, available in sand/red, agate blue/yellow and grey/royal blue colourway’s. All styles feature a natural leather lining in navy, with matching laces and the natural plantation crepe sole that George Cox is renowned for. Each pair is produced in England using Goodyear Welted construction, a process that involves stitching the welt to the insole through the upper and the lining, ensuring a comfortable fit with the insole bedded onto a layer of filler so it moulds to the shape of your foot.”

Curated turns us onto these recycled newspaper chairs.

Stefan Gougherty takes recycling into his own hands with these wordy chairs. Using old newspapers, Gougherty molds stackable seats produced through gluing together quarter inch paper layers and finishing the chair with a resin dip. The result is a very light, surprisingly rigid piece of furniture.Gougherty graduated from the Rholde Island School of Design in 2009. This chair was produced during his time in University.

‘B’ Magazine Interview

selectism - b-magazine-interview

The fine folks at Style Salvage have caught up with the creators of B Store’s in-house magazine to bring a great interview. Having a chat with the duo behind the magazine, they find out about the magazine’s origins, how certain interview came about and their approach to the magazine. When it came to the last point they stated:

“Primarily, we did not want it to be another fashion title because we both felt that there already were enough titles out there, some of which were doing it very well, some doing it not so well. It was very important to us that we were crating a magazine that came from an alternative point of view to anything already out there. We talked to Matt and Kirk about the store; the designers they stocked, the people who shop there or those involved in the store in some way, be that artists who have shown in store or creatives who they have collaborated with in some way and at this point we realised that this was more than a lifestyle. We described it as a world, the bstore world.”

Lining your chinos with a warm fabric is always a smart move in winter – buying them pre-lined is even smarter. Post Overalls have some gingham lined chinos that’ll do the job nicely, making sure you always look crispy but never get cold. (Bureau)

Kangol for Denim Demon Ski Cap

selectism - Kangol for Denim Demon Ski Cap

On a collaborative outdoors kick today.

Denim Demon has teamed with Kangol to produce two color variations of a classic ski cap. The inspirations are two fold. First, in color scheme and iconography, the Denim Demon boys look north to the Sami culture (which drives so much of their design). Second, the guys remember Swedish skiing legend Ingemar Stenmark. Known for the height of his ski cap, Stenmark has raced to more victories than any other slalom and giant slalom in history – including two golds at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics.

These caps release in December. 130 pieces per color.

Ronnie Fieg for Merrell “Wilderness” Collection

selectism - Ronnie Fieg for Merrell "Wilderness" Collection

Few people “get it” when it comes to collaborative footwear projects. Ronnie Fieg happens to be one of those guys, and his work on the Merrell “Wilderness” collection speaks to an understanding about how to let a silhouette speak for itself. The beauty of the trio of boots comes through simple color contrasts and a celebration of materials. (This makes them slightly more compelling than the nonnative version).

These boots are made in Italy. They will sell from Friday November 12, 2010 at David Z of NYC.

Henrik Vibskov Plaid Panel Shirt

Selectism - henrik-vibskov-panel-shirt-01

We’ve been on a Vibskov rampage lately – if you can call putting up two pieces in two days as a rampage. We sometimes tire of plain shirts, so a shirt like this is always gonna be to our tastes. It’s the sort of shirt that’ll never be called ‘timelessly stylish’ but will always look good. (V Store)
