Selectism - seven-days-preview-01

It’s a little late, but our next seven days is finally here. Rather than show off a preview outfit, we’re gonna show something one of the SL team (i.e. the one writing this post and talking in third person) had on that day. Look out for the full feature tomorrow, but for now make do with this outfit. We’ve included top to bottom ‘fit details after the leap and another close-up on the bottom half of the outfit.

Well, for those celebrating of course. See, some of our staff in Europe do not so they’ll be working but us here in North America will be getting filled of turkey, but know this – that turkey hates you.  Some proof in the video below:

Ben Sherman Modern Classics Autumn/Winter 2010

selectism - Ben Sherman Modern Classics Autumn/Winter 2010

Ben Sherman Modern Classics applies over 50 years of shirt making expertise to bring a range of classic, everyday (read simple) pieces that flow neatly into any wardrobe. The first collection drops this season. A few days in Scotland helped the BSMC team capture the essence of the new line.

The story behind the shoot is as such, “A couple of weeks back Ben Sherman Modern Classics hit the road – the destination the remote village of Kilchoan, on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, the most westerly point on British mainland.  Nearly 600 miles from London, and 55 miles from the nearest town – on highland roads, that’s a two and a half hour drive!  The next ten days were spent hiking the highlands and mountains, checking out the wildlife, beaches and the local islands, as well as their whisky distilleries and some amazing shellfish, including a diving expedition to catch our own lunch.  A six hour drive was to follow, to the north coast in search of some waves, for some more hiking along the spectacularly rugged coastline, and to check out some very remote pubs. It was a beautiful getaway to some of Britain’s most untouched corners. AW10 Modern Classics accompanied us along the way, and needless to say, it stood up well to the physical demands the rugged environment asked of it.”

More photographs from Scotland and a full look at the inaugural Ben Sherman Modern Classics line after the jump.

Expansion & Collapse

Selectism - expansion-collapse-01

Manystuff turns us onto a project entitled ‘expansion & collapse‘. According to Manystuff, the project is an:

“Ongoing collaborative project between Fay Nicolson and Oliver Smith exploring processes of acquiring, organising and displaying visual research. Within this project we trace relationships between traditional sites for storing information (libraries, archives and shelving systems) and new digital, networked and compressed sites for accessing ‘knowledge’- making connections between schematic and architectural, real and hypothetical spaces.”

And it also makes for some nice pictures to look at. Look for these at a Tumblr near you.

If you want to get a look at the denim, go take a look at Goodhood.

No, this isn’t named after the famed Eastenders lothario* but rather Swedish author and artist Beppe Wolgers. Costing just £80, it’s one for the cost conscious fashion lover (or his even more cost conscious partner who wants to save money on a gift). [Three Threads]

01. TurBaconEpic Thanksgiving (Above)

From Today’s Big Thing.

02. Thanksgiving Leftovers: Brussels Sprouts, Potatoes, and Turkey Hash

“For the day after thanksgiving, hash is a natural, particularly if brussels sprouts and potatoes play a prominent role on your table. Charred brussels sprouts get crisp, sweet and flavorful—perfect for smothering with egg yolks and gravy.” (Serious Eats).

03. Pecan Pie

“This is the pie that I made on ABC’s Good Morning, America.” (Mama Dip).

04. Spicy Cornbread Stuffing with Red Peppers, Chipotle Chiles, and Andouille Sausage Recipe

“Most cornbread stuffings are much too dry, with the cornbread turning into stale, loose nuggets that refuse to bind with any of the other ingredients. On the other end of the spectrum are stuffings that are too wet, simply turning into a damp, sloppy mass.” (Cooks Illustrated).
