KLM Tableware By Marcel Wanders

curated mag - KLM Tableware By Marcel Wanders

Not to overload with ceramics news today, but the KLM Tableware designed by Dutch master Marcel Wanders is simply good enough to complement a leggy tea service. Passengers on KLM’s business class will enjoy the shapely cups, plates, and saucers – all of which hits the exacting weight and space restrictions of air travel. “The set represents the high standard of top restaurants thanks to its ergonomically and technically thought-out design,’ says Wanders. ‘As a frequent flyer, one of my long-term wishes has been fulfilled through this commission.” (via Frame).

Selectism - jessica-walsh-interview-01

One of our favourite design sites, iDsgn, have started a new series called ‘fresh & hungry’. Interviewing several young designers, they launched it with an interview with Jessica Walsh. The interviews are short and snappy, giving a good overview of the New York based designer’s career so far.

Read the interview over at iDsgn and take a leap to see more of her work.

Melinda Gloss Waxed Trench Coat

Selectism - melinda-gloss-waxed-trench-coat-01

We’ve been all about the crushed leather button for a while now, so it should be of no surprise that we like this coat purely because of the button choice. If we were being cynical we’d say you’re better off just buying some buttons and putting them on an old trench; but we’re gonna assume that most aren’t fussy enough with their clothing to do this. Oh yeah, and it’s waxed – which is nice. (Studio Homme)

Nike Vintage Blazer High

Selectism - nike-vintage-blazer-01

We’d been hearing about the death of trainers (or sneakers if you’re a pedantic American) for a while and we’d always thought it to be a little silly. Who stops wearing trainers purely because they have some nice shoes? So, in praise of the ‘everything in moderation’ theory, we’re posting up these high top blazers. We might even wear it with an overcoat if we’re feeling bawsy. (End)

Lanvin Wool/Cashmere Coat

Selectism - lanvin-wool-cashmere-blend-coat-01

We’ve been on the lookout for a good overcoat this season and this is the first (of what’s sure to be many) that fits the bill. The shape isn’t too out there and it’s grey, men’s official favourite colour. The only problem is the pricetag, but H&M collabs aside, you know what to expect price tag from Mr Ossendrijver.
