John Boultbee Criterion Mk. 1 Jacket (Brooks England)

After a bit of hinting over the last month or so, the John Boultbee line has finally delivered a first look at their clothing line – a new brand from the Brooks England company that has brought us saddles and bags for more than a century and a half. The new John Boultbee lines looks to expand on the classic Brooks look through garments. The first is this Criterion jacket. “The Criterion Mk.1 Jacket is the first in a line of what will soon be regarded as the world’s finest jackets for cycling, carrying the label John Boultbee.”

Designed with Timothy Everest, the Criterion Mk.1 jacket show appreciation for classic fabrics of the past. Take their outer: “The outer surface of the John Boultbee Criterion Mk. 1 is Ventile, a waterproof and windproof treated woven cotton textile designed in England during the Second World War for use in pilot’s suits. Ventile is also popular among birdwatchers and naturalists because is produces almost no noise when in use.”

Keep and eye on John Boultbee.

Barbour Grenville Jacket In Sandstone for Spring 2011

Let’s step away form the greens, browns, and blacks that are the usual tell tale colors of the Barbour look. This Grenville in sandstone is just as strong as those and just in time for Spring. “Inspired by Barbour fishing jackets such as the Derwent but with a prominent Mountain Parka influence, the Grenville is a great example of Barbour at their best.” Adding this one to the collection. End has them.

Taylor Stitch, Outlier Sunwashed Chambray Pivot Shirt

Taylor Stitch, Outlier Sunwashed Chambray Pivot Shirt

This chambray cycling shirt from the Taylor Stitch and Outlier houses features a “pivot sleeve” to help your ride. “”The basic challenge was straightforward, when you lean forward on a bike a buttondown shirt stresses. It pulls uncomfortably taut across the shoulders. The sleeves pull up exposing your wrists to the cold, and the tails pull out of your pants, leaving you either untucked or with a blooming blouse of a shirt. Our solution is the patent-pending Pivot Sleeve, a completely reconstructed buttondown that retains the traditional look and feel of a dress shirt while working equally well both on and off the bicycle.” A nice detail indeed. You have a bunch of colors to choose from.

Selectism Giveaway | Two Night Stay at The Standard Downtown LA

This is a big one this Wednesday! We’re more than excited to be working with The Standard Hotels on this giveaway. They’re offering you, the Selectism readers, a two night stay at the The Standard Hotel Downtown LA. LA does not get any better than a couple of nights inside this landmark hotel.

Known throughout circles for their rooftop pool, The Standard Downtown LA brings life to the heart of downtown. Here’s what the Telegraph said about the hotel: “The Standard building was turned from a Fifties office block into the hotel in the mid-Nineties. The transformation took five years but, thankfully, the building’s history and soul weren’t totally eradicated. The lifts remain intact, warts and all, and metallic reliefs from a Fifties oil company adorn the entrance which is also home to a fabulous old Mexican organ, which perfectly offsets the modernism.”

So that’s two nights free stay courtesy of  The Standard Downtown LA! Get in on this one.

Restrictions do apply so be sure to read them after the click.

How to Win:

Join Selectism on Facebook and leave a message on our The Standard Downtown LA discussion page.

Contest ends on Dec 30, 2010.

Be sure and sign up for other  Selectism Holiday Giveaways below:

Tessellated Dish Dryer

Selectism - dish-dryer-01-curatedmag

Curated turns us onto this bizarrely attractive dish dryer.

“Dynamism” is not a word regularly associated with dish racks, however Matias Conti has achieved just that in a prototype for P&C Plasticwares. Function and aesthetic blend smoothly, Conti’s oceanic inspiration clear in the undulating movement of the final version. Here’s hoping the concept reaches our homes”
