Selectism - edifice-blackwatch-jacket-01

And the blackwatch goes on. This time Edifice bring out their now staple coat in a blackwatch pattern. You’ll have to get your proxy on though and, frankly, we don’t think now is the time to be spending all that money on yourself. Just wait until boxing day. (Style Cruise)

Corgi Socks

selectism - Corgi Socks

We could chat heritage here (Corgi has been making socks in Wales since 1893). We could scream “Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow.”

But, we’ll avoid doing either in full force. Instead, we’ll be honest and just come out and say it – we love quirky socks. These, with skull face and baseball hat, are among our favourites. Good color combos, to expertly match or clash, and pure 100% Egyptian cotton. If you need any more affirmation, Corgi is responsible for the fine inline sock collection at Present London.

Top flight stocking stuff.

“My Freedamn Seven” Book

Selectism - my-freedamn-seven

We would say that this is a possible Christmas gift, but let’s be honest – it’s too late for all that now. It’s time to go back to what you do best, looking up potential gifts for yourself. And why not start with this book about vintage beach fashions? Get some inspiration and all that. Before you know it you’ll be wearing Hawaiian shirts everywhere. And if that doesn’t happen, at least you’ll have read a good book. Available from Garbstore and Amazon My Freedamn Seven Book.

Muji Alpaca Blanket

Selectism - Muji-Alpaca-Blanket-01

Have we gone so far that we’re now recommending blankets? Yes. Yes we have. Expect hole punches and dividers any day now. That said, we do quite like this blanket. And it’s made from alpaca, which makes it rugged, butch and extremely masculine. (Muji)

02. SHARON TATE – ‘60s SEX GODDESS IN PRINT

“My memories of the murders of Sharon Tate and the others in the summer of 1969 are foggy, being 14 at the time and more concerned with rock ‘n’ roll and the counterculture phenomena going on, which the Manson case sort of put the kabosh on. The long-haired hippie image that Manson projected at the time of his arrest confused a lot of people on the left and helped them to come to the conclusion that it was the establishment blaming the hippies––which Manson later said he was not––for the slaughter in Los Angeles. Manson was held up as a martyr by some on the extreme left who portrayed him on a cross, and others who actually celebrated the slaughter of the “pigs” declaring 1969 “The Year of the Fork.” (Bad Mags)

03. Another “Simpsons” Homage: “Raiders of the Lost Ark”

“I got my paws on another collection of stills from Simpsons episodes and the movies they reference. Here’s a sample featuring the Raiders of the Lost Ark homage.” (Joey Devilla)

04. 2010 X Covers

“The first of two looks back at the year in magazines focuses on some notable front covers.” (Magculture)
