Selectism Giveaway | Brooks England Barbican Shoulder Bag

A big Friday! How better to compliment that Outlier Riding Kit, from yesterday, than with this Brooks Barbican Shoulder Bag. I have this one here in the office. It feels as secure and rugged as it looks. This may will clearly outlive a lifetime as their saddles have. Comes in a slipbag for pre-riding protection. Here’s how the Barbican Bag came to be: “n 1910 John Boultbee and his son Wilfred Mason Brooks filed two patents related to improvements in satchels, knapsacks and the like. Both these patents guaranteed more equal distribution of the load over the straps and more stability of the bag whilst cycling.”

This is a heavyweight giveaway from Brooks.

How to Win!

Join the Selectism on Facebook and leave a message on our Brooks Barbican Bag discussion page.

Ends on Dec 24, 2010.

Curated turns us onto this interesting piece of work:

“Scottish furniture maker John Galvin has been winning a slew of awards recently. In 2009, he was New Creative Design Business of the Year. Galvin’s followed that honor with inclusion in I-Con products of the year, and in Home and Interiors Scotland.

Here, I’m showing the Soldier Table. Galvin says, “The Soldier Table is made from American Black Walnut with a toughened glass top. The inspiration for this piece came from childhood memories of playing with toy soldiers.”

Tretorn for ACE Hotel Golashes

Here’s another exclusive look for this Friday.

Tretorn looks to be working hard these days on some galoshes collaborative works. Today they announce a new custom version of their Stråla Vinter rain boot for the ACE Hotel. 300 units of the rain boot are being produced for staff and guests – just in time for the weather approaching (at least in the Northern Hemisphere). “The low-cut rubber boots will be available in black with an ivy green trim and a tomato red outsole. One boot will feature the ‘Ace’ logo on the back heel, while the other will feature the ‘Tretorn’ logo. The phrase ‘Let’s Stand Together”’is printed on each boot footbed. The boots, designed especially for rainy climates, have a cozy microfleece lining, a sturdy grip rubber outsole and elastic goring for easily slipping on and off. Each pair also comes with a custom co-branded shoe bag.”

The price is right as well: $70.  Available through all ACE Hotels, their  online shop, Tretorn NYC shop, Blackbird, Context, Roden Gray, and Unionmade.

Selectism - gourmet-sedici-01

We actually featured this in our Seven days shoot but they were obscured by some bushes (hey, we never said we were the brightest). So here’s another look at them. We’ve always liked Gourmet’s, yes they are streetwear but these are as clean as they come. And, if you need any more incentive, they’re on sale. (Crooked Tongues)

selectism - Zif Coffee Table

The Zif Coffee Table has everything to satisfy a lust for industrial chic, combined with a warm heart to hold our dearest possessions. Pull the wheeled leg side and a wood lined drawer is revealed. This provides space for magazines and other important clutter. A simple mix, but an effective one. The designers, a team of Lijbach, Leeuw and Vormgeving hail from Eindhoven and specialize in storage solutions. (via Industrial Design Served).

Selectism - uniqlo-lambswool-jumper

Consider this a cheat piece for the wardrobe. Although Uniqlo don’t like promoting them, their lambswool jumpers are a permanent standout for us. On a budget? Add about three of these to your crewneck rotation. (Uniqlo)

Headporter Plus Quilted Shirt

Selectism - head-porter-plus-quilted-shirt-01

We’ve been featuring a bunch of Headporter Plus lately but can you blame us? We can’t deny something when it looks this good. Our only problem would be with the Japanese sizing, but that’s just the usual size up one scenario. We’ve always liked quilted shirts as layering at around this time of year, they’re just toastier than the average shirt. (Haven)

Song remains the same, take a leap and see those pictures.
