Maison Martin Margiela Money Holder

I have accessories on the the mind today. I love this solid state money holder from Margial for Spring 2011. For those rocking the 99cent UNIQLO card holders as wallets, this is a considerable upgrade in that space. A beautiful piece of lacquered wood. Grain looks wonderful. Oki-ni has them.

Sruli Recht “Perch Skin” Whalet

Sruli Recht "Perch Skin" Whalet

Sruli Recht’s wallet hit the mark on everyrhing unique and individual. You will not find another wallet like this (at least in this color – exclusive to Ghostly). “A brilliant abstraction of a whale in profile, Sruli Recht’s ‘Whalet’ is crafted from a single piece of laser-cut Nile perch skin, which has been folded into shape and hand tethered with a black oxidized rivet. In keeping with Recht’s holistic design process, the packaging cleverly references this concept as well, the wallet lying inside a pop-up box, he notes, as ‘in the mouth of a Leviathan rising from the waves.’ Ghostly has them.

MUJI Noel Vending Machine

The Japanese love their vending machines – as do those walking through airports. An endless supply of goods may be purchased. Looking for a Hello Kitty vibrator? You can find one in a vending machine in Akihabara . Now, for those in Barcelona (and beyond), MUJI has setup a quick access vending machine for your shopping pleasure. (lost)

Alden for Context "Rough" Roy Boot

If you missed the Context version of the Roy Boot the first time around, you may be pleased with this “rough” version out soon. “The second coming of the classic Roy Boot, the Rough Roy Boot is made on the Trubalance last and is cut and sewn using the rough side of Mill Dyed Earth Chamois leather processed by Chicago’s Horween Leather Company, established in 1905. Chamois, aka oiled nu-buck, is generously oiled and easy to care for.”

J. Crew Mocassin Slippers

J. Crew Mocassin Slippers

I’m putting this one out there as everyman should have a fine pair of Winter house shoes. While the J. Crew version looks to be sold out online, we’re hoping you can find it in stores. The other option, which I stand behind, is the UGGS “Byron” slippers (at about double the price). Laugh all you want – until you fall in love with shearling mocs. “Suede upper with leather trim and rawhide laces. Classic rubber driving-moc sole.”

Givenchy Spring 2011 Campaign

Just in: some looks at the Spring 2011 Givenchy campaign by Riccardo Tisci. The shots are slightly off-putting mixing in male vs. female overlays to give a universal appeal. Then again, this is Givenchy. “Photographers: Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. Models: Daphne Groeneveld / Stephen Thompson.”

New L.L. Bean Signature Boots

Your options just expanded in the L.L. Bean world. Their Signature line has delivered (late) some new season proper boot additions. The blue waxes canvas bean boot is a nice standout as is the use of different sole materials. Not sure how I feel about the crepe on a big boot but some may love it. (si)

Selectism - black2-01-curatedmag

Curated turns us onto this exhibition:

“Black2, or “Black and Square,” is a new exhibition conceived by Konstantin Grcic. The German designer employs 51 objects to examine the common use of black square shapes in modern production design. Most of the objects chosen are well known – ipods, Marshall speakers, etc. – and while they do all contain black square shapes, the geometric patterns formed in the installation are quite diverse.”
