Folk ‘Bobby’ Shoe

Selectism - folk-bobby-shoe

Some might say that we’re a little obsessed, we’d say ’so what? If you had our range of fine shoe wear that can only be worn in certain weather conditions you’d be the same way’. That usually ends any arguments (on account that the other person slinks off and thinks we’re mad). So, with that in mind, here’s another pair of rain-ready shoes, thanks to the commando sole. Selectism - sns-herning-felt-jumper

SNS just relaunched their online store, which should help folks who wanted some of their lesser stocked styles. We’re enjoying the trippy pattern on this jumper, so we felt it’d make a great Christmas gift. We know it’s not exactly seasonally appropriate but a jumper’s for life, not just for Christmas. Socially driven footwear company Oliberte dives into holiday with this green version of their Adibo shoe, a riff on the classic dessert boot. The perforated Nubuck joins sheep leather and patent among the newer offerings. Green is our choice, not only festive but it begins to give Oliberte a more distinct personality.

FIlson Cover Cloth Umbrella

Let the gifting begin. What we have here is a waxed cover accessory that serves a strong purpose – rain protection. “This classic umbrella from Filson is made from Filson’s heavy-duty Cover Cloth; a tightly woven 6oz 100% cotton poplin with thick wax coating. The fabric is water and wind resistant and, despite the toughness, remains surprisingly light and easy to carry. With time and use the wax coating will wear to create something truly lovely and unique.” Blackbird has them.

“Touch and Go: The Complete Hardcore Punk Zine ‘79-’83″ Book

12 December 2010, 18.00 | Posted in Music | No comments »

"Touch and Go: The Complete Hardcore Punk Zine '79-'83" Book

This may be the perfect gift for your older brother or dad (or mom)  who came up during a very crucial period in the U.S. music. Hell, it’s perfect for anyone looking to a history lesson. Touch and Go: The Complete Hardcore Punk Zine ‘79-’83 Touch and Go: The Complete Hardcore Punk Zine 79 83 Book is a massive bound collection of all 22 issues (576 pages!) of the legendary Midwest zine that not only launch a record label that brought us Big Black’s “Songs About Fucking,” but also fired up many other zines to come into existence. It’s a massive tome and a document into the history of the American punk and hardcore movements.

From an ephemera standpoint (Nick and I love this stuff), this is a strong document collecting flyer, photos, record sleeves and beyond from bands like Minor Threat, Black Flag, 7 Seconds, and whole host of others. (a modern online document expanding beyond the Touch & Go era can be found at The Hardcore Archeologist) .

Simply put, this Touch and Go collection is essential reading.
