Cloudveil “Shadow Peak” Pants

“Cloudveil began to take shape during the winter of 1994 around a profound belief that there was room in the mountain apparel market for a focused, performance-oriented product offering that would dare to think out of the box when it came to functional design, fabrication, and innovation.” They introduced their eight products in the fall of 1997. Today, they are sold in more than “450 outdoor specialty stores around the world. The “Shadow Peak Pant” are made of Gore-Tex Performance shell outerwear with a lined waistband. The pants are waterproof and offer hand-warmer pockets, side-ankle zips and a gaiter system. This pant will out-do any khaki pant out on the market, plus it actually looks slim so it would go great with your Fall wardrobe. It’s available in two colors: toast and black, get it now at Gore-Tex.

Selectism - pay-display-01

In Brighton? No? Well, regardless, there’s an interesting exhibition on there, should you be in that part of the UK. Well, we say exhibition, we mean a pop-up gallery which will sell prints from the likes of Modern Toss (who’s periodic tablecloth of swearing is above). You can find the address and make an enquiry on their official site.

La Panoplie Camel Coat

Selectism - La-Panoplie-camel-coat-01

Here’s a handsome camel coat from a brand we’d not heard of, La Panoplie. Fur collars (and judging from the product description, it’s real fur) are always a bit hit or miss on menswear. The problem being that you’re only ever half a step away from channelling a tasteless ogliarch. That aside, this does look nice, although the real fur might put some folks off (don’t hurt us PETA). Loake ‘Stamford’ Derby

Selectism - loake-derby-01

While rubber soles are usually mocked as the ugly sister of footwear soles, they do have their place. Take these Loake’s for example. They look classy as ever from the top, yet have all the ruggedness to deal with rain and – if you’re feeling brave – a little snow. The £170 price tag isn’t too hard to swallow either. (Herring)

Wanna do the all cord everything look this winter? We know we do (at this point, we’re not even sure we’re joking anymore). Our Legacy have given us a chance to do just that with this Corduroy parka. Team with it a cord shirt, cord trousers and a cord tie for a boiling hot look. Literally. (Our Legacy)

01. The Five (Possibly Intentionally) Funniest Parts of R. Kelly’s New Album

“The freshly leaked Love Letter is R. Kelly’s first-ever consciously retro full-length — just look at that classy, bow-tie-featuring cover — and it replaces his usual hilarious raunch with straightforward odes to love you’d almost feel comfortable playing for your mother. But this is still R. “author of ‘Sex Planet’” Kelly, which means he can’t quite let an entire album go without making us laugh. Whether intentionally or unintentionally is for you to decide.” (NY Mag).

02. Oddisee – “Kissin Clause”

“The holiday season is in full swing which means it’s time for long shopping trips, putting up the Christmas tree & gatherings among friends and family. The one constant throughout these and any other holiday traditions one may hold is holiday music. Growing up, we heard holiday themed music 24-7 from the day after Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day. Sweeping in to save your ears from redundant tunes, the Low Budget Crew have remixed & flipped some of our favorite songs.” (TSS).

03. Paris apartment by MAAJ Architectes (Above)

“This narrow staircase with alternating steps is one of a pair installed by French studio MAAJ Architectes in a Parisian apartment.” (Dezeen).

04. Chess Grand Master Bobby Fischer & Time Life Lobby Chair

“Chess grand master Bobby Fischer specifically requested the Time Life Lobby Chair designed by Charles and Ray Eames while he competed in the World Chess Championship in Reykjavik In 1972. He said he could concentrate well in the chair. When his opponent Boris Spaasky saw it, he refused to play until he got one too. Vitra has produced a short video on this historical event.” (Daily Icon).

Denon AH-C710 In-Ear Headphones

Denon AH-C710 In-Ear Headphones

With all our love for the full sized audiophile cans, it’s probably best to discuss a pair of headphones on the more portable sound – without compromising much on quality. Quality to me is simply a true representation of the music being heard, rather than an overload on the bass and treble. Most earbuds tend to do best only on one end of the bass vs. treble spectrum. A great earbud will also fill in the mids – the body of the music – in a way that will impress your ears. You will hear a difference immediately in clarity and richness.

While they may not be part of Denon’s 100th Anniversary collection (we covered their full-size cans and turntable from that collection), the AH-c710 in-ear buds Denon AH C710 In Ear Headphones are still a top of the line earbud which will be a step up in terms of sound over your standard Apple earbuds (including Apple’s in-ear buds). Don’t worry. The bass remains for those who prefer it. It will just sound tighter than normal instead of rattling your ears. Amazon Denon AH C710 In Ear Headphones has them.
