01. Colorful Indonesian Clinic and Library Made from Shipping Containers

“Shipping containers are sturdy, versatile structures that have traveled the world over the course of their lifespans. The Contertainer is a poly-clinic and public library designed by Indonesian firm, dpavilion architects, that repurposes these adventurous vessels to house books, which serve as “windows” to the world at large. The name for the health clinic and public library is an amalgam of two words: container and entertainer, which reflects its goal of providing a better quality of living for those who have little money.” (Inhabitat).

San Antonio Shoemakers Penny Loafer

“Our passion for shoemaking started with Terry Armstrong and Lew Hayden. By the 1970’s shoemaking was leaving the United States and many of those who remained were cutting corners to compete with less expensive imports. Neither Terry nor Lew wanted to compromise on quality, so in 1976 they quit their jobs in the shoe industry and started SAS. They crafted every shoe by hand, with attention to detail and the best materials available.” All SAS shoes are made in the USA once again. The company brings us the traditional penny loafer and they offer it in black or cordovan. A historic shoe company that offers top of the line products. If you get the chance you should check out their video which shoes you all the steps into making one of their shoes. The shoe is available at SanAntonioShoemakers(SAS).
