A suede belt may do you right this Spring. Hold off on Winter as you’ll get it mashed. It features a “debossed” bandana pattern against a big square buckle. There’s something for everyone – of course. Goodhood has them.
Opening Ceremony continues to work with the very best in the business. Here’s a teaser announcement for a capsule collection with Maiston Martin Margiela under the name “MM6 Maison Martin Margiela x Opening Ceremony.” Yes, it is a women’s only garment and accessories collection for Autumn/Winter 2011. Now we sit back and wait for the looks. You can view the collection by appointment beginning on Feb. 10 in NYC. More to come.
These two inch wide neckties from Jil Sander feature a minimal color band near the knot tie. One thing that I love about ties of this nature are how simple additions can set off the entire look. Wear them well during your New Year’s Eve bash – yes, you should have on a suit that you can dirty – however you want to. Oki-ni has them.
For lovers of all things Daiki Suzuki, here’s a brief look at the forthcoming Spring 2011 collection. These shots are previews from their coming lookbook and feature similar takes on the classics as expected from the Japan line made in NYC. Dig in. (cf)
From Wheal Maiden Brewery, Grandma’s Weapons Grade Ginger Beer differs slightly from other ginger based on the market. Most directly, Grandma’s is a real adult soda, a true alcoholic version of ginger beer, as opposed to a ginger infused ale (currently quite common in CAMRA endorsed British breweries). Wheal Maiden brought Grandma’s to market in 2008, suggest the drink perfect alone or for making a ginger shandy. We might suggest it might be totally inappropriate for Dark n’ Stormy’s though.
Fatboy, an outfit known for overstuffed bean bags, doesn’t normally grab our attention. However, with their small Edison the Petit lamp, they produce something which is both effective and simple enough to merit noting. Set for February delivery, and as name might suggest, the Petit is a smaller version of the previously available grand. In shrunken proportion the lamp makes more sense – a quirky, yet unassuming addition to any interior.
The Sunday after Christmas and I’m back here looking at the list of links being sent across the desks of our editors – from Berlin to Boston and all in between. It is the collective taste (mainly good) that make Selectism the site it is. Some editors love the Japanese take on classic goods. This Roberu “plain toe” workboot is an example. The rich deep pigment in the tanning makes these standouts. Hand-made from start to finish.
“One of 5 short idents we did for E4 on the topic of Christmas. The general idea was to surprise people with something really anti-christmas, and transform something boring into something amazing. It was alot of hard work for a relatively short time but they were really fun to do and much merriment was had by all.”
01. New Indie Rock Christmas Songs For 2010 (huge list!)
“Every blog does a Christmas mix, so here’s ours, with a small twist: All of these tracks are new for this year Xmas songs, not the classics or Sufjan leftovers. I’ve also included streams for charity singles, Christmas-related music videos, and other new holiday bits (with links, where applicable, to download the rest of the album or Christmas compilation). We’ve posted some of these earlier this month, but most are new. Enjoy…” (stereogum)
02. Listen to new Dam Funk xmas track
“Apparently, even new-school masters of funk can get a little sentimental during the holidays. Earlier today, Dam-Funk posted a brand-new holiday ditty on the Stones Throw website, making sure to note that the track was created and recorded yesterday in LA with only a Korg Rhythm 55B drum machine, a Roland Juno 1 synthesizer, a Casio CT-640 keyboard, and a Radio Shack $19.99 microphone. Take a listen to “Tis the Season” below.” (xlr8r)
03. The Futureheads – Christmas was Better in the 80’s
They call it a bathrobe. I think it is more proper as a smoking robe. In full chill-out regalia comes this Paul Smith striped bathrobe. Stripes are more telling than a brand logo. This robe just works – for some. “This bathrobe features a signature Paul Smith multistripe, two front pockets and a tied waist.” Coggles has them.
