Curated reports, “Created as a final project at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, Gal Ben-Arav’s Bamboo Bench marries raw bamboo and cast aluminum. The Israeli designer chose to use bamboo in raw form because of the materials minimal processing. Though not native to Israel, bamboo is now grown in a controlled manner in the Middle East with an eye to building sustainable resources.”

The “MAN” Collection by Junya Watanabe delivers strong silhouettes and great fits from this master for design. The “Mercerized Canvas Parka” is just one of the many example for this Spring/Summer 2011 collection. The piece is 100% cotton and is handcrafted in Japan. The jacket offers: zipper closure with an added hook fastener, underarm leather vents, flap pockets and the subtle gingham lining. K & TH (better known as Workers Japan to many in the West) delivers more authentic examples of classic wear as discovered through ephemera of a time past. Their leather ring belts are hand-made in the Workers workshop and are available in black and brown leather with brass ring closures.

Everything can use a lift. Liberty London debuts the relaunch of their menswear collection for Spring/Summer 2011 – working with Italy’s Slowear Group to get things proper. As usual, the Liberty print archive was made available to them for a re-thinking of their classic patterns.

“The collection was designed with a light and effortless attitude in mind, using very fine double twisted cotton shirting fabrics ranging from stripes and checks to jacquards and of course prints. The tailored collection includes both double and single breasted blazers in very deep shades of navy and china blue as well as tobacco and cognac. All the blazers have Liberty printed shirting fabric trimming their back collar, a signature detail of the collection.”

Cheap Monday delivers some campaign look from their Spring 2011 collection.
