Our Legacy Sweatshirt

Selectism - our-legacy-mustard-sweatshirt-01
A wise man once said ‘you can never have too many sweatshirts’, or that’s what we think he should’ve said because it’s gosh darn true. This one’s a mustard colour, which would be a good, as they say in the industry, pop, of colour to the sea of grey sweats you already have. (End)

(capsule) Paris | Isoara Riding Blazer for Autumn 2011

Isoara remains active sport inspired with their new blazer and trouser set for Autumn 2011. The “riding” blazer and pants look beautifully tailored an off and on the mountain look – and we mean really on the mountain. The construction features taped seams and tech fabric allow for true riding on the mountain. Hell, if all the kids on bicycles can get tailored riding gear, so should riders and skiers. Seen at (capsule) Paris.

Hartford Denim Company

selectism - Hartford Denim Company

Being from Connecticut, there is a certain pleasure in writing up Hartford Denim Company this week. The trio of passionate pants (and jackets) makers – Marshall Deming, Dave Marcoux, and Luke Davis – have been generating strong buzz (via NPR and a nod from our good buddy Marcus Troy) recently, and so the time is certainly right.

Their handmade, limited edition denim pays tribute to Connecticut with a state shaped patch. There’s a bit more about HDC on our pages here, and after the jump you can take a full look at Hartford Denim Company Clopen Jean – Cone Mills 130z if you’re counting.

I’ve tried on a pair and can attest to a solid fit. If you are looking for something unique, give the guys a call.

Paris | Thom Browne Presentation Autumn/Winter 2011

Thom Browne presented  their Autumn/Winter 2011 collection in Paris this evening at the Westin Hotel. In the beautiful ballroom setting, models were seated around a long dinner table that brings you back to a classic time of royal dinner parties – twisted in a way that only Mr. Browne can successfully deliver.

Heritage Research for Wings + Horns Coat Autumn 2011

Wings + Horns works with U.K. brand Heritage Research on this green mack  inspired field coat. British Millerian is employed of course allows for a strong coat that stands out for the small stuff including a under-collar detail that sets it off nicely on those extra cold days and more military than heritage if I was to outright label it.

(capsule) Paris | Billy Reid Leather Jacket for Autumn 2011

We found this heavy full grain cowhide gem on the Billy Reid racks at (capsule) Paris. The brilliant brown colors pull the line even further into their Southeast roots. We suspect it will become a heavyweight addition to the closet of many. Look for it this Autumn.

ACNE ODEN Anorak Jacket

ACNE ODEN Anorak Jacket

ACNE Spring/Summer 2011 Collection brings the Anorak back into style. The “Oden” comes in navy or dark olive and offers the zip closure with a “drawstring channel at the hem.” The reinforced leather pieces at the end of the drawstring make for a secure hold in the rain. The jacket features two front pockets, adjustable wrist straps, raglan sleeves w/ vented armpit holes and a utility hood with drawstrings. It’s made of 100% nylon and is water-resistant. There last two raincoats from previous seasons held up well in the rain. I’m very happy to see the additional colorways for this season. It’s available at AcneStudios.

Kris Van Assche Autumn/Winter 2011 Looks

Kris Van Assche Fall 2011 Men's

Kris Van Assche presented their Autumn 2011 collection on the runway. Their take on the direction: “Moving towards a new silhouette where the suit, symbol of maturity, makes the codes of cool its own. A fusion between raw elegance and more sophisticated pieces. The tailored sweat-shirt reigns supreme, revisited, cut in woolen sheets, knitwear is refined. Excessive volume on top with oversized sleeves. Legs are straight and loose. The palette is dark, down to the essentials. A few shafts of natural colour on a thin belt or on the welt of a shoe create a crossroads where street meets luxury.”

Wings + Horns Duffle Hoodie

Wings + Horns Duffle Coat

Wings + Horns always sets the bar when delivering their newest collections. This time they use a newer age fabric on a classic duffle coat. The Polartec material has a great response to colder weather conditions. While the fabric is very light in weight, its wicking and cooling features are what the makes the fabric so interesting. This piece makes the perfect lightweight jacket. The weight of most duffle coats is probably what motivated the design team to create such a piece. I’ve had other polartec products, but this is surely the best looking one out there. The “Polartec Duffle Hoodie” is available in a heather gray and black and is made in Canada. Available at Atoo.
