Video | Put This On: LBJ Buys Pants

“In 1964, Lyndon Johnson needed pants, so he called the Haggar clothing company and asked for some. The call was recorded (like all White House calls at the time), and has since become the stuff of legend. Johnson’s anatomically specific directions to Mr. Haggar are some of the most intimate words we’ve ever heard from the mouth of a President.

We at Put This On took the historic original audio and gave it to animator Tawd Dorenfeld, who created this majestic fantasia of bungholiana.”

BBB | Filson Black Label (Europe) Autumn 2011

Filson Black Label (Europe) Autumn 2011

There are (unofficially) two Filson Black Label collections in the wild. One for Europe and another for the U.S.A. Problem is, it would seem that Filson does not want the U.S.A. “black label” collection to actually be referred as Black Label. If that confuses you slightly, it does us as well. Nevertheless, the Seattle based garment and accessories maker works their classic looks with more slightly modern cuts for the fashion-conscious. They’re very well done and work well with today’s trends.

BBB | Brooks England “Victoria” Saddle Bag and Cover

Brooks England "Victoria" Saddle Bag and Cover

Brooks England previews an interesting accessory which looks similar to a small  hand bag but is much more than that. The Victoria bag is designed to be both carried in hand as well as attach to your bicycle saddle when in transit. The Victoria slips over your saddle (as a cover) allowing the pouch end to hang off the rear of the saddle – like a normal saddle bag. An interesting concept acquired from an entry to one French horse saddle maker’s design competition.

Red Wing Autumn/Winter 2011 Boots and Shoes

Remember back when during the explosion of the streetwear scene you saw roped off booths at tradeshows (you still may). Well, that what the scene at the Red Wing boot (as well as Filson who share the same distributor in Europe) at Bread & Butter Berlin. For Autumn you’ll find some re-takes on their line through leathers and color. Above we see some colorways that pay homage to the branches of the U.S. military.

Mugler Autumn/Winter 2011

Mugler Men's Fall 2011

Style gives their take on the new Formichetti collection for Mugler. “Their clothes mostly read as new—not old—Mugler. They borrowed certain signatures from the house’s expansive vocabulary: the strong shoulders on the jackets, the shorn lapels, something of the originator’s talent as a colorist. But they were quieter than Mugler’s own brand of bombast, and less witty; they brought out the sinister side of suiting, the darker connotations of uniform. Formichetti’s fabrics, especially the man-made neoprene, plastic, nylon, and latex, were sensuously textured but chilly—every other piece shone, but it was light without heat.”

Float Cappuccino Cups

selectism - Float Cappuccino Cups

Designed by Stephanie Forsythe and Todd MacAllen, the Float Cappuccino Cups are manufactured in Canada (that’s for you, Pete). “The double-layered structure of the Float glassware series separates the bowl containing the liquid from the hand, keeping cold liquids from warming in the hand and hot liquids from scalding. Condensation is also elevated from the table surface, eliminating the need for coasters. All of the items are mouth-blown from borosilicate glass, an extremely pure and chemically inert glass which is heat resistant.”

Available now from Moss.
