BBB | Fidelity by Gerald & Stewart Peacoats

fidelity-by gerald-stewart-jackets-2011-10

I love running into other New Englanders while on the road. It’s even more fun to run into brands from my home city. Everett, MA’s Fidelity, who for more than 70 years have produced peacoats for the USN, showcase their “Fidelity by Gerald & Stewart” collection at Bread & Butter Berlin, which features coats and a short collection of knits. What you get is a proper U.S.A. made outwear that will simply remain in your wardrobe for years. True classics. I would link to their website but it isnt working. Troll Google for more info.

Pride & Dignity with Field Notes Outerwear Autumn 2011

What caught my eye on from German based brand, Pride & Dignity, was the inclusion of a Field Notes notebook with each of their jackets. The inside chest pocket features a “lanyard” style hook with a Field Note on the other end. Interesting. I guess it could be used for your keys as well. Seen at Bread & Butter Berlin.

Yang Yongliang: Cigarette Ash Landscape

Selectism - ashlandscape-01-curatedmag

Curated turns us onto this news:

“Two things about this work of art are amazing. First, the scale. Second, Yan Yongliang has turned a collection of black and white photographs and formed a collage mimicking cigarette ash. The ash itself mimics a city scape, and the photographs are all architectural. Full circle, fully engrossing.”

Just about everyone is brought in to help on manufacturing the collection. “Modern Classics” is inspired by the “Great British outdoorsmen of the late 1950’s particularly the challengers of the World Water Speed Record.” Dig into out gallery for more. Eddie Bauer for Nigel Cabourn Autumn 2011

Check this. Eddie Bauer collaboration with Nigel Cabourn. To to the point: this collection will be available only through Nigel Cabourn retailer doors. From what we’re told it is not being sold within the United States, which is a slight disappointment. It is a fantastic collection designed in England. Heavy weight outerwear featuring true leathers and high quality fabrics throughout. But you knew this. It’s Cabourn designed. Seen at Bread & Butter Berlin.

Tender Dip-Dyed Woad T-Shirt

Selectism - tender-woad-t-shirt

Here’s a first. A dip dyed t-shirt that won’t make you look like a relic from Woodstock. This one’s from Tender and, though technically a t-shirt, is more of a short sleeved sweatshirt, seeing as it’s made from loopwheeled jersey. Details fanatics will be glad to know that it’s all made in the UK. (Superdenim)

Selectism - folk-riding-jacket-01

Cording up a storm is this Folk riding jacket. Invoke the spirit of the latest Jilly Cooper novel by wearing this whilst learning to ride a horse. Or, failing that, just wear it when you’re out with friends. (Oi Polloi)

Selectism - melinda-gloss-peacoat

Here’s a solid looking piece, perfect for people who use the word solid to describe pieces of clothing. It’s not gonna set your wardrobe ablaze, but we’d challenge any man to look bad whilst wearing this. Actually we don’t, some guys are great at messing up good pieces. (Studio Homme)

02. Fake Lawyer Tahir Malik Tried Over 60 Cases, With No Law Degree

“Tahir Malik, a 47-year-old man from Skokie, Illinois, “walked around the courtroom like he was a hotshot, strutting around,” said one of his clients.

He tried more than 60 cases, charging between $500 and $4,500 to his clients. He worked on traffic court cases, mortgage foreclosures, and some low-level criminal cases.” (Huffington Post)

03. Blur ‘in touch’ about getting together again in 2011

“Blur look set to reconvene again in 2011 – according to drummer Dave Rowntree.

However, he admitted any plans for any new material from the four-piece are still up in the air.” (NME)

04. Blake Griffin’s career-best 47 points lead Clippers past Pacers

“Those critics who label Blake Griffin’s offense one-dimensional? The Los Angeles Clippers rookie answered them with the NBA’s high-scoring game this season.

Hitting a mix of bank shots, hooks, 3-pointers and turnaround jumpers, Griffin had a career-high 47 points and 14 rebounds for his 27th consecutive double-double, helping the Clippers rally to beat the Indiana Pacers 114-107 on Monday.” (ESPN)

“Doppelganger: Images of the Human Being” Book

18 January 2011, 23.00 | Posted in Books & Magazines | No comments »

"Doppelganger: Images of the Human Being" Book

The cover alone has me intrigued for this forthcoming book from Gestalten on the human form. “Doppelganger Doppelganger: Images of the Human Being Book presents current trends in capturing the visual identity of human beings. Each of its seven chapters explores a different creative approach: Embody, Dissolve, Appeal, Reshape, Perform, Deform, and Escape. The book is a compelling and entertaining collection of groundbreaking permutations of the outer human shell created with costumes and masks as well as photo-technical and artistic manipulation.” The book arrives in February 28, 2011. Pre-order from Amazon Doppelganger: Images of the Human Being Book.
