Liberty of London Men’s Autumn 2011 Preview

Liberty of London Men's Autumn 2011 Preview

NYT’s T Mag gives us their take on the Liberty of London men’s collection for Autumn 2011 – from Pitti Uomo. “Given the house’s signature prints, I expected a riot of color and pattern. Instead, the Liberty of London designer Marco Sartoretti took a more measured approach, choosing just four prints in a subdued, cool palette and peppering them throughout the collection, which appeared to be inspired by Eastern motifs and Western tailoring. Checkerboard patterns quietly climbed up lapels and covered shirts and cropped slim trousers while a flashier “Marble” printed parka in icy blue stole the show.”

RIMOWA Salsa Air Luggage in Cognac

RIMOWA Salsa Air Luggage in Cognac

I had a tough time deciding if I would show all the pieces in the RIMOWA Salsa Air line – which are now all available in a cognac flavor – or just one roll-away. Problem is RIMOWA luggage is strikingly beautiful when seen as individual works of industrial design. The new color against Salsa Air, which is their most lightweight of lines, offers that subtle touch of unique to your roll-away. A great look.

Fullcount Jeans All-in-One Coverall Suit

fullcount denim coverall 1 Fullcount Jeans All in One Coverall Suit

Forget the all-over prints – this is the real deal in all-over denim. Somehow, they even made it slim fit. God bless Japan. This all-in-one denim coverall from Fullcount is made from 13.5oz Zimbabwe selvedge. Those zippers get you in and out of it quickly. But, for some reason, the look above reminds me of the Patterson Gimlin bigfoot film. Blue and Green has them.

Gucci Tennis ‘84

selectism - Gucci Tennis '84

Corner boy heritage. About damn time.

Like our friends at Complex and Nice Kicks, we’re pretty excited about the return of the Gucci Tennis ‘84. The sneaker are appropriately priced at $375… these aren’t street classics for nothing. What else is there to say? You either get it. Or, you don’t rate Raekwon among your style icons (for the record Rae > McQueen). Should you need a primer, refer to Mr. Warnett’s “Crack Footwear.”

YSL iPad Case in Red

YSL iPad Case in Red

Keep throwing that luxe at us. YSL drops a great “Valentine’s Day” gift for the woman in your life looking for a little brighspot to shine that dark iPad. At $750, it is not cheap. We could all have guessed that. “YSL first released the ChYc iPad case in the brand’s signature black and is now offering a fire-red version, which is perfectly in tune with spring’s all-business envelope clutch. It’s priced about the same as the midlevel Wi-Fi and 3G-enabled iPad.” (tmag)

Blanc & Noir Wool Peacoat

Blanc & Noir Wool Peacoat

Canadian crafted clothing brand Blanc & Noir show us the new peacoat with a zipper. This detail is is one of the greatest ideas. Everyone whose ever owned a peacoat knows that its such a hassle to button up when its cold. But with this jacket, there’s a zipper for easy closure and it’s not a YKK its a RIRI zipper closure. The fabric consists of 90% and 10% nylon blend. A double-breasted coat with gunmetal buttons and rear vent offers a an inset ribbing in the cuff for better heating. (RodenGray)

Guest Blogger | All Plaidout and Joe Gannon on Cause and Effect Belts and Accessories

12 January 2011, 18.59 | Posted in Accessories, Guest Blogger | 1 comment »
http://www.vimeo.com/18506042

Joe Gannon and Max Wastler recently visited East Tennessee’s Smokey Montains. Their purpose was simple, to check out the rural studio of craftsmen Billy Moore and investigated his process. Moore, the man behind Cause and Effect Belts & Accessories, has been described as an unorthodox genius. He’s said to spend days beating leather hides with stones… and evenings rebel rousing. The belts have been described as “old fashioned,” and while neither the aesthetic nor the approach screams ‘turn back the clock’ it still manages to work.

But, enough of our thoughts. Let’s turn to our guest bloggers. Above, you’ll find Mr. Gannon hard at work polishing a belt buckle. After the jump, some words by Mr. Wastler (on a night with Mr. Moore) is complemented by some fine photography.

Surface to Air Duffle Coat

Surface to Air Duffle Coat

Surface to Air has been one of those brands that I’ve been following since their inception. They’ve become a “superbrand” that has a massive worldwide following. They also consult with a couple major brands from Japan; Issey miyake and UNIQLO are just to name a few. I had the chance to try on this jacket and the fit is solid. The best detail is the hood with brim; perfect for snow, sleet and rain. The removable epaulettes option should be offered on all jackets that have permanent epaulettes. The jacket comes in black and is 80% wool and 20% Polyamide. A nice slim coat that is made to last. (Welcomstrangersf)

Selectism - spring-wood-01-curatedmag

Curated turns us onto this seat:

“Dutch designer Carolien Laro produced the Spring Wood collection while studying for her graduate degree at Arts Academy St Joost and Amsterdam Wood and Furniture College. The seating furniture has garnered significant praise – in form of two prestigious awards – and allowed Laro to undergo experiments related to rigidity and flexibility in wood. The results are simple and very effective”
