Property Of... Wallets for Autumn 2011

Here’s a bunch of looks at the forthcoming Property Of… Autumn/Winter 2011 wallets (and some sleeves if I remember correctly). A few variations on the wallets appear. Canvas gets piped in colors for some. These will work for some.

Selectism - masterpiece-autumn-2011-01

Anyone looking for a backpack that won’t make them look like a lost hiker would do well to save up their pennies for Masterpiece’s AW11 collection. Leopard print bags are always a win with us, especially given the staid sourness of most of the collections we saw in Paris. If, for some crazy reason, you’re not as into leopard print as we are, there’s some more traditional colour combinations after the leap.

Raleigh Denim for Tenue de Nîmes

selectism - Raleigh Denim for Tenue de Nîmes

Tenue de Nîmes adds another young American brand to their growing list of collaborators with a limited canvas number from Raleigh Denim. We like Raleigh for their use of a humorous hip-bone x-ray screen print on the pocket bags. Tenue de Nîmes clearly likes the upstart brand for ability to form good looking trousers from a variety of fabrics. For the small batch of 24, Raleigh Denim has used a 11.5 oz indigo canvas with contrast gold stitching. The pants are said to wear like denim.

Available here. More images after the jump.

monality wool ties fall2011 2 (capsule) Paris | Monality Wool Ties Autumn 2011

Frilled ends look to work for Monality for Autumn 2011. Two of their wool ties on display at (capsule) Paris had frilled ends which may or may not work for you as proper neckwear. We’ll let you decide. We captured some bowties in wool finish as well, but they’re almost expected at this point.

Selectism - sns-herning-autumn-2011-08

Here’s a preview look at SNS Herning’s upcoming collection (Dag is modelling a new one in the above shot, where we’ve unfairly cut his head off the shot). Showing in a separate showroom, away from the hustle and bustle of Paris during fashion week. They’ve introduced some new colourways (you’ll be able to spot them if you look hard enough) and added some intricate patterns to show off their skills with the needle.

More shots are after the leap.

Generic Surplus for Comme des Garcons SHIRT Sneakers Spring 2011

generic surplus commedesgarcons spring2011 1 Generic Surplus for Comme des Garcons SHIRT Sneakers Spring 2011

Generic Surplus has sent over looks at their forthcoming sneakers and deck inspired shoes for  Comme des Garcons SHIRT Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Two GS shoes were chosen:  the Mid Deck boat shoe and the Hunting Lo sneaker. Simple edits were made on both models to compliment the SHIRT collection which is inspired by a nautical look. Those changes are as subtle as enhancements on the eyelets and laces. While not out of the ordinary, they do make them unique in the GS offering.

The Mid Deck comes in a navy canvas while the Hunting Lo is a monotone canvas/suede combination in natural and navy – both with gumsoles.

01. Flavor Flav Opens First ‘Flav’s Fried Chicken’ Eatery in Iowa

“Rapper and reality TV star Flavor Flav is bringing the flavor of chicken to Iowa.” (Billboard).

02. Landmark Exhibition of John Marin’s Revolutionary Watercolors (Above)

In 1948, a nationwide survey pronounced John Marin (1870–1953) “America’s Number 1 artist.” Marin’s exuberant and improvisational paintings are recognized today as critical to the evolution of American modernism. Less well known, though, is the extent to which Marin pushed the limits of the watercolor medium, establishing for a new generation of artists its inherent suitability to avant-garde expression. The Art Institute of Chicago has organized a major exhibition that is the first to explore this idea through close technical analysis of the artist’s watercolor practice: John Marin’s Watercolors: A Medium for Modernism, which is on view in the museum’s Jean and Steven Goldman Prints and Drawings Galleries in the Richard and Mary L. Gray Wing (Galleries 124–127) from January 23 through April 17, 2011. This groundbreaking exhibition presents 110 stunning watercolors, oils, drawings, and etchings by Marin, ranging from early images rooted in traditional practice to more experimental compositions. At the heart of this exhibition is a group of 40 watercolors that were donated to the Art Institute in 1949 and 1956 from the collection of Alfred Stieglitz by his wife, Georgia O’Keeffe. While a few individual works from this gift have been loaned on rare occasions to other institutions, this collection has never before been presented and published in its entirety. Important loans from other Chicago collections enrich this cache of material even further. After its debut in Chicago, John Marin’s Watercolors: A Medium for Modernism will travel to the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, where it will be on view from June 26 through September 11, 2011.” (Art Daily).

03. In Defense of Decaf

“Decaf drinkers have it rough. Not only are they always the butt of (never very funny) jokes and the constant recipients of barista skunk eye, but they’re also often reduced to settling for the dregs in their cups.” (Serious Eats).

04. No Such Thing as Silence: John Cage’s 4′33″

“First performed at the midpoint of the twentieth century, John Cage’s 4′33″, a composition conceived of without a single musical note, is among the most celebrated and ballyhooed cultural gestures in the history of modern music. A meditation on the act of listening and the nature of performance, Cage’s controversial piece became the iconic statement of the meaning of silence in art and is a landmark work of American music.” (YUP).

Lanvin Autumn/Winter 2011 Backstage Looks

Lanvin Autumn/Winter 2011 Backstage Looks

Dazed took great shots from backstage at the Lanvin Autumn/Winter 2011 show. A nice change from the usual runway looks. “Wearing hats, the models streamed down the Palais de Tokyo catwalk in fine knit trench coats, wide trousers and croc skin loafers. Except for the usual shiny tones of blue and grey, we saw a gorgeous mustard yellow jacket and plum red trousers. Jackets in general were often cropped and sometimes came layered on top of coats.”
