If you are anything like me, and spill shit on your wallet/phone/etc with any frequency, you’ll be pleased by the protective qualities of Bellroy’s “The Very Protective Wallet.” Second upside, it is pretty good looking.

Some still images of “The Very Protective Wallet” follow.

Frederik Roije ‘Guidelines’ Magazine Rack

Selectism - guidelines-magazine-rack

Printfetish turns us onto this handsome magazine rack. It’s more of a showcase than a storage system, but magazine lovers should have room for both in their lives. At 169 Euros it’s also relatively affordable, and shouldn’t be too much of a financial burden if you’re racking up the magazines at an alarming rate. (Roije)

Mr Porter Launches

Lots of buzz in the community regarding the latest addition to the hybrid mens fashion/retail category of sites. Mr. Porter opened their doors today – publicly – allowing us all to explore. The brand-strong site offers a slew of garments and wears from the likes of Bottege Veneta, John Lobb, Mr. Bathing Ape, and many others.

Maybe their best content revolves around their Video Manuals that feature interviews and insight by the biggest names in men’s fashion. Content-wrapped shopping. Welcome.

Porter for Saturdays Surf NYC Tote Bag

Selectism - porter-saturday-surf-nyc-tote-bag-01

Have Porter always been so collab happy? To our eyes it’s looked like we’ve turned away from the brand for a couple of minutes and they’ve started making bags with anyone who asks. This one’s from Saturday’s Surf NYC and, if you’re in the market for a tote, is a handsome one. It’s available in white and navy, although we prefer the navy version, the white’s a good look for someone who plans on their bag never touching a dust particle. Don’t forget to get your proxy on. Moncler Tracksuit Bottoms

Scallies, layabouts, benefit receivers and Jeremy Kyle guests rejoice, you’re in fashion! We knew it had to happen, but chav style has finally found its way into the populace after being unfairly derided for so long. Maybe we were all jealous of the chavs comfortable approach to dressing all along? Either way, you can now wear a pair of tracksuit bottoms and slouch around in pride. (Farfetch)

Tommy Ton On Them Streets

Selectism - tommy-ton-01

We don’t usually post up pictures of street style, but we had to make the exception here. Plus, everyone knows Tommy Ton’s name but how many know how the man dresses? Mister Mort thought enough of his looks to post up three of his outfits and here’s our favourite. We’re quite the fans of that wool biker jacket he’s got on. Kudos points if you can see the edge of the Sartorialist, who’s jacket is just a little smedium for our tastes. (Mister Mort)

The Big Bucks Shoe

After much fanfare, Mr Porter has finally launched and the site that will finally get men shopping is here. By now we all know the sort of product they’ll have in stock, but more interesting is their side magazine, The Journal. The launch issue has this feature on John Lobb Double-Monk (aka the blogger’s choice of shoe) showcasing just why this big bucks shoe costs big bucks. Read it over at Mr Porter.

Flashkus USB Flash Drive Concept

01. Restoring Breuer’s House in Garden

“Kykuit, the Rockefeller estate in Pocantico Hills, New York, hearkens from the days of robber barons and captains of industry. Acres of manicured lawns, a six-story stone-clad mansion, carriage house, golf course, and sculpture garden have an unlikely neighbor: a modest home intended for America’s everyman—America’s everyman with good taste, that is.” (dwell)

02. PJ Harvey in Session on BBC 1

“PJ Harvey performs a magnificent Session at the legendry Maida Vale Studio’s. Rob and Polly Jean Harvey catch up about the new album ‘Let England Shake’, the process of song writing and recording in a church in Dorset.” (bbc)

03. Flashkus USB Flash Drive Concept (above)

“Soon the flash card will evolve into a disposable form. All electronics will be contained on the tip of a detachable cardboard module.” (artl)

04. Interview with Mr. Aaron Draplin, Drapin Design Co. and PENCILS!!

Pencils are strongly represented in the DDC “longhand” series, and the Field Notes pencil seems to follow the eponymous notebooks in adventures all over the planet. What do you like about pencils so much?

There’s just something simple and soothing about them. I mean, I don’t want to get too existential about bonded lead or anything, but, hell, there’s just so much possibility in each one! It freaks me out. That little pencil…the tool aspect…is this little gateway to a million ideas. I think about that kind of stuff with each one I crack into. In a world where things are more and more compacted, complicated, sped up and digitized, a regular old wood pencil is always there for you. Never needing to be recharged, you know?” (pencilrevolution)

Attachment Leather Jacket

Selectism - attachment-leather-jacket-01

We’ve always got time for a leather jacket. This isn’t an investment piece but then again, unless you’re planning on floating a piece of clothing on the stock market in a few years time, nothing is. It is a nice jacket though. And it’s from Japan, which automatically makes it better. Don’t ask why, it just is. (Mindtrive)
