La Belle France’s Megève Poster

La Belle France's Megève Poster

La Belle France commissioned The Heads of State for a new poster series celebrating the newsletter’s launch into the online world. For those not familiar, they cover the high end world of French luxury hotels, fine dining, wine and travel. More on rhe poster and Megeve. “Our winter poster features the snow-blanketed town of Megève. We first visited this winter wonderland many years ago and were captivated by it’s charm, style, and skiing. This, the first in a series, is a limited and signed print of just 250. Collect the series for a stunning artistic tribute to France. In the late 18th century, Megeve was a thriving town of 2,400 farmers, herders, and lumberjacks, but the rural status ended in 1916 when the mountain hamlet was “discovered” by Baroness Maurice de Rothschild who decided it would make an excellent French rival for Saint Moritz.”

Comme Des Garcons Shirt Plimsolls

Selectism - comme-des-garcons-shirt-plimsolls-01

We spoke about these a while back and they’re out now. Made in collaboration with Generic Surplus, these are some good looking trainers. Obviously, they’re best kept for when it warms up a tad. We’re not advocating you start wearing all your spring gear now, that’d make you look overeager for warm weather. Never a good look. (My Wardrobe)

Opening Ceremony Luc Wood Sole Loafer Shoe

By definition, these can also be classified as clogs. The full wood sole does it in, but we’ll remain with loafer; that works too. “Like your favorite loafer but better, the Luc wood sole is our sophisticated update of a tried-and-true style. smart and subtle, this pair is the kind you’ll find yourself wearing day after day.” From the O.C.

Burberry Black Label Spring/Summer 2011

Burberry Black Label Spring/Summer 2011

Burberry’s Black Label does not get as much attention on our sites compared to Prorsum, so we’ll bring them forth for a moment. The collection is one of the more difficult to attain from the Burberry line, which is probably one of the reasons we do not hear much from their P.R. on it. Maybe that will change soon. We hope it does as Black Label does compete well against the other ranges of “black label” collections on the market. This is menswear done right on a very high level.

Trussardi 100th Anniversary Show '8 1/2'

Fondazione Nicola Trussardi has opened the doors on their “8 1/2″ artist showcase and exhibiton – their first outside of Milan. Curated by “Massimiliano Gioni and produced in collaboration with the Fondazione Pitti Discovery” the exhibition brings together 13 artists to re-interpret the idea of flashbacks and deja vus, as borrowed ideas (as well as the show’s title) from Fellini’s “8 1/2″ film. The exhibition was opened in celebration of Trussardi’s 100th anniversary. Here’s a look at select jackets, blazers, and mackinaws from the Monitaly line. Blazers in wool with shawl collars look great as well as the red and black plaid mackinaw shown above.  Be sure to check the raglan jackets, and mountain parkas as well. A ton to show from the Monitaly collection for Autumn 2011, so we’ll be back with vests and more soon.

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2011 Catalogue

Selectism - louis-vuitton-spring-2011-01

If you’re one of the folks who need more Louis V (and your mama couldn’t get through to you), this SS11 campaign should be right up your alley. Apparently this is the first time Vuitton has used an Asian male model which is great for diversity or, depending on your viewpoint, a cynical ploy to get into the booming chinese market. Either way, there’s covetable pieces after the leap. (Louis Vuitton Lover)

Urban Outfitters Spring Preview 2011 by Harmony Korine Book

Urban Outfitters sent over their latest “look book” for Spring 2011. Worked over by Harmony Korine, the “book” features photography and art overlay work creating by Korine. We love in-house catalog books and it is nice to see the results of well thought out packages that look beyond the styled model shoots.
