Selectism - christopher-raeburn-autumn-2011-01

After showing off some of Raeburn’s work for Victorinox a few weeks back, Dazed take a look at his mainline collection, which has – to use a cliche that fits the situation – gone from strength to strength. For editing’s sake, we’ve only included the menswear but it’s a handsome collection all round.

Take a leap to see a couple more shots.

Selectism - vidal-04-curatedmag

Curated turns us onto some of Hedi Slimane’s latest work:

“Beautiful photographs of American author Gore Vidal. The two of us have no connection, other than that we grew up on the same block, in totally different eras. Slimane’s diary captures with tremendous detail Vidal’s personal style.”

The introductory theme for debut brand Publish is Jeremy Steig’s “Wayfaring Strangers” album off Blue Note.

Future seasons will continue to be driven by jazz greats, and if our viewing at PROJECT Las Vegas last wee is any indication, consistent growth will be a theme as well. Look for an Autumn 2011 preview later in the week. For the moment, get acquainted with Publish through the above video, showcasing the Spring 2011 collection.

APC Hooded Mac

Selectism - apc-hooded-mac-01

Every season there’s usually a coat or three we could do with from APC’s collection. This time it’s this mac, which comes with the novel addition of a hood. While David Cameron’s feelings on hoods these days aren’t so clear – will he randomly hug us if we wear this? – we do know it’s much easier carrying a hooded coat around than an umbrella. (End)

Junya Watanabe Duffle Coat

Selectism - junya-watanabe-duffle-coat-01

As much as we joke about Junya Watanabe’s stuff, we do like the clothes. Take this duffle for instance, it may be from Watanabe’s most ‘wearable/sellable’ collection in  a while, but it looks damn good. It is Watanabe though, so expect the price to be higher than Wiz Khalifa. (Ssense)

Selectism - barbour-canvas-rucksack-01

If you’re still looking for a rucksack, here’s one to gawk at. If you haven’t guessed from the title, this one’s by Barbour, who’ve been working to get their online store up to scratch. They’ve done a good job too, it’s user friendly and doesn’t overdose on flash, which is always helpful. And this bag looks nice, and at £160, is relatively affordable. (Barbour)

Isaac Rentz’s art installation for Native Son as part of their presentation at NYC Fashion Week 2011.

“The Track. The Train. The Traveler. Equal parts documentary and social experiment, the 15-minute piece focuses on three subjects (a carpenter, an artist, and a filmmaker) confined to a sealed 10-by-16-foot room for a total of 36 hours as a commentary on the social and creative process of creating an idea or environment that others have to inhabit.”

"Cosmic Communist Constructions Photographed" Book

Curated profiled a new photo-book documenting the best of the weird  in communist architecture earlier this month. “Coming [March 1, 2011] from Taschen, Cosmic Communist Constructions Photographed Cosmic Communist Constructions Photographed Book shares photographer Frédéric Chaubin’s investigation of the “final stage of Soviet architecture.” Free from a “school” and given cart blanch in a crumbling political system, Soviet architects of the 1970s through 1990s pushed boundaries and expressed in full force the ideological dreams. Chaubin’s photographs bring these buildings to life and remind of a vibrant artistic community often forgotten in our memories of the iron curtain.”
