Selectism - grenson-06

We sat down with Grenson owner Tim Little and had a good chat. We talked about everything from his days as an advertising man looking after adidas, his current position as owner of Grenson, overseas production, revamping the brand and the average man’s undying love for a black square toed shoe. There’s also some great photography from Charlotte Hadden. So go on and read it.

Selectism - Richmond-01-curatedmag

Curated turns us onto this shelf:

“Proposed as an elegant wall accent, the Richmond Shelf by Studio Dunn has some range in application. Hang low, for instance, and use it as a bedside table. Hang a little higher, and voila, your lamps are placed just right. The shelf is manufactured using traditional craft techniques and stands among several other beautifully formed objects from the Rhode Island firm.”

selectism - Vegas | Repro Brand

Going from strength to strength each season, Repo Brand was among the most impressive showing in Vegas. The cashmere bodied Officers Coat and Prison Painters Pants are firm favorites. Strong attention to detail and unique tweaks are hallmarks of the entire Autumn 2011 collection.

Expect to see a lot of great things from Repo Brand coming in the future.

Selectism - brooks-brothers-briefcase

If you’re on the hunt for a cream briefcase (and who isn’t?) then this Brooks Brothers one should be up your alley. Obviously, giving it’s creamy appearance, it’s not suitable for an office, but it’s just fine for all you creative types out there. (Brooks Brothers)

Selectism - mash-japan-tiger-bag-01

If you’ve ever wanted to blend into your surroundings in an authentically true and heritage ready manner, this bag is for you. Failing that, this looks like a good overnight/gym bag and the pattern’s just interesting enough to differ from the mountain of tan leather bags you have. (Mr Mudd and Mr Gold)

Selectism - junya-watanabe-cardigan-01

Think this is just a regular cardigan? You’re wrong mate. It’s a Junya Watanabe cardigan. That alone makes it better than whatever you’ve got on right now. Seriously, look at yourself, your knit looks flimsy man! flimsy! Do better, save up a grand and get yourself this cardigan. You know it makes sense. (Ssense)

01. Gap-Toothed Women (1987) (Above)

“What do Lauren Hutton, Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, and Chaucer’s Wife of Bath have in common? They all have a space between their two front teeth.”

02. Best of the best: 135th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show

“The premier annual event for dog breeders, dog lovers, and fans of photographs of puffed-out pooches has just come to an end. The Westminster Dog Show attracts some 2,500 dogs from around the nation to two days of pomp and preening before sold-out audiences at Madison Square Garden in New York City and a television audience around the world. Each dog’s complete name includes the prefix “Ch” — for champion, since each purebred entrant has already been a winner somewhere. The dogs are judged by groups, including Hound, Toy, Non-Sporting, Herding Sporting, Working, and Terrier. The top dog is selected in the final contest: “Best in Show.” Six new breeds were included this year among the 179 eligible: Boykin spaniel, bluetick coonhound, redbone coonhound, cane corso, Leonberger, and Icelandic sheepdog. The show, which started in 1877, is second only to the Kentucky Derby as the longest continuously held sporting event in America.” (The Big Picture).

03. Pedro Barrail’s Tattoo Breakfast Table

“This week at Design Miami/ Cristina Grajales Gallery debuted Pedro Barrail’s Tattoo Breakfast Table. The work is a continuation of a theme Barrail began in 2008 with his bar stools, which are also at the fair.” (Morgans).

04. Art. Lebedev: Flashkus Disposable Paper Thumb Drive

“Products by Russian-based design studio Art. Lebedev often play with digital icons such as a hand or mouse cursor, the computer desktop file symbol or pixelated imagery, translating them into real products. though taking a bit of a detour, their latest design still deals with the digital and comes in the form of a disposable thumb drive called ‘flashkus’. made from a cardboard stock material, the sticks come in sets of four, divided by perforations which make them easy to separate and use. the paper surface allows one to hand-write labels directly onto the drives, indicating what is stored on the key. they come in 4GB, 8GB or 16GB storage capacities.” (Design Boom).
