selectism - Carney Jacket and Chapman Shoe

Creative Director of Perfecto Brand by Schott, Greg Chapman, was in LA for a few days taking a break from the freezing New York weather and getting to the Vegas Shows. While there, he had lunch Little Doms and discussed the jacket he named after long-time friend, Creative Director of Generic Man/Generic Surplus, Kevin Carney, who also happens to have named the Generic Man staple Chapman after Greg. The duo were interviewed by Astri Barbala.

View both jacket and shoe, and read the interview, after the jump.

Vegas | Perch Collective Crinkle Coat for Autumn 2011

Los Angeles’ Perch Collective plays with crinkled wool fabric for a number of garments coming in Autumn 2011. One we liked was this Crinkle Coat, with good contrast clasps and a smooth black front, with texture playing at the forefront.

Duvetica Men's Puffer Coats for Autumn 2011

Big trend for Fall 2011 – shiny puffer jackets. Duvetica has it down to a science with bold, but not over-the-top, colors and a full zip hood. Most importantly, the cut is on point.

Orlsow Slim Chino Pants

Orlsow Slim Chino Pants

Orslow, a brand from Hyogo, Japan shows us their Spring 2011 Collection. From hardwash jeans and shirts to hardwashed chinos and oxfords, the collection really showed great detail in the pieces. The “Slim” chino pant was probably one of my favorites. Because the pants were “hardwashed” it gave a soft feel to the fabric. I was able to try it on and it fit amazing. A great pair of khakis for the summer months. It’s available at Orslow.

First Look | Johannes Faktotum Autumn 2011

Selectism - johannes-faktotum-autumn-2011-01

We showed off their video yesterday, but let’s take a look at some full looks. It’s easy to get lost in the intergalatic steeziness of this lookbook, but there’s actually a wearable collection. Take that jumper with the hood for instance, you’d wear that right? of course you would. There’s plenty more where that came from as well, with a few coats we wouldn’t mind wearing. We’d stay away from the leggings though.

Sixpoint for Time Out NY

curated mag - Sixpoint for Time Out NY

A magazine beer collaboration? Yup, that’s right. For the “Beer Issue” Time Out New York worked with Brooklyn’s Sixpoint on a special edition Porter.

The story of this beer is really the TONY story distilled into a pint glass. We chose to start with a porter—a dark style that originated in 18th-century England—as a nod to our roots in London, where Tony Elliott founded Time Out in 1968. But to give the brew a bit of NYC attitude, we asked the Sixpoint team to complement the porter’s rich malts with some serious stateside hops. The result is a transatlantic delight: At once traditionally English and distinctly American, the hybrid has a grassy aroma and a sharp bitterness balanced by smooth dark-chocolate undertones.

20 barrels are hitting the streets… more specifically favored TONY beer bars. Make sure to grab the issue and seek out a pint.

Moonchild ‘Echoes’ Autumn/Winter 2011

Selectism - moonchild-autumn-2011-01

Moonchild is Pascale Koehl’s, stylist and head of collections at April 77, new label. His debut collection is entitled ‘echoes’ and the concept behind it is of a futuristic world so futuristic that is doesn’t actually make sense in our tiny minds. Either way, it’s all 100% alpaca and there’s some very good looking knits, although we could do without the fringing. Because we’re fair (and because there aren’t many pictures) we’ve included some of the womenswear as well.

Take a leap to see the collection.
