It has the wearability of other American designers, but mixes in some new ideas that take it a few steps above the constant nostalgia. The ongoing Richard Chai/Original Penguin collab continues this autumn with their recent New York presentation. It’s on the wearable side of things, but that’s no knock. We’re fans of the coats and knits, which we’ll surely be coveting come september.

For the first time Scott Sternberg showcased his Band of Outsiders collection for Autumn/Winter 2011 on the runway, during New York Fashion Week. The LA designer continues to present his smart schoolboy look. He was inspired by 70s hiking for the coming season and smartly mixes that with his signature look. Fur jackets and accessories certainly stand out and the footwear was once again provided from the Band of Outsiders for Sperry Top-Sider Collection, which featured an interesting mid cut boot this time around.

Curated recently profiled new book on the history of grafffiti as art and its impact over the last decades. “Coming this April, The History of American Graffiti traces the evolution of graffiti from New York and Philadelphia across the United States with unprecedented scope. Written by Roger Gastman and Caleb Neelon, the book covers street legends like Taki 183 and new street art stars like Barry McGee.”

Loden Dager presented their Autumn/Winter 2011 collection this weekend during New York Fashion Week. The knits stand out for the season – color blocks and snowflakes work well against sweaters and pull-overs – as do those mustard drawstring pants. Some Southern influence is seen as well. We also enjoyed their footwear for the new season, taking inspiration from more rural outdoor styles, yet adding a more sleek look to it.
