Richard Chai Autumn/Winter 2011 Runway Presentation

NYFW continues to roll on. Looks from the forthcoming Fall/Winter 2011 collection by Richard Chai. The tones remain dark but this should not take away from the detail work. The coat in the look, above right, is just one of the pieces to catch our eye.

rag & bone Autumn/Winter 2011 Runway Presentaion

A ton of bowler hats and some Scottish inspiration are found in the rag & bone Autumn 2011 runway show. Looks as though the brand is harnessing some power from the classic tailoring of the Old Kingdom while mixing it with a touch of the new. We very much appreciate the roomy trousers and the great use of blues throughout. The women’s AW2011 is right in line with this as well.

General Idea Autumn/Winter 2011 Runway Presentation

General Idea Autumn/Winter 2011 Runway

The General Idea Autumn 2011 runway sticks close with the remix of mountaineering and street fashion and if I may say pulls much from mid 2000’s camo movement. Technical jackets get the camo treatment with color enhancements making them less mil-spec and more fashion ready. Plaids rule the shirting. Korean outerwear brand NEPA looks to have collaborated on the technical outerwear as well.

Riviera Club Autumn/Winter 2011 New York Fashion Week Presentation

Riviera Club Autumn/Winter 2011 New York Fashion Week Presentation

Last night we attended the New York Fashion Week presentation of Riviera Club, showcasing their new Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection. The dinner table setup continues to be a popular one – we have seen it already this season in Paris at the Thom Browne show and in Copenhagen at the Vibskov show. Riviera chose to do a more loose setting of their presentation, with models hanging out around the fully set dinner tables. The looks stay similar to what we have seen before – a smart heritage inspired look that we also continue to like, as it is easy to wear, easy to match, yet you are dressed for any occasion.

Robert Geller Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection - Runway Presentation

We visited the Robert Geller Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection Runway Show in New York yesterday. The designer makes a big step with his new collection, perfectly fusing a high end fashion look with an easy to wear downtown look. Especially the designer’s jackets have become very sophisticated. He makes use of a lot of leather in the new collection, but uses it rather different from other brands and collections that we have seen so far. As usual we like seeing a sophisticated collection that is also easy to wear.

N. Hoolywood Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection - Runway Presentation

Taking inspiration from the early 19th century mountain climbing scene, Japanese designer Daisuke Obana showed for the first time this season at New York Fashion Week on the runway. The new N. Hoolywood Collection for Autumn/Winter 2011 looks strong with the color palette staying in the grey and beige tones mostly, only with a small part of the collection taking a more bold color direction. The outerwear and pants look fantastic and the designer especially got the details right. Layering the styles next winter will be a lot of fun.

01. The Strokes confirm new album cover art and tracklist

“Somewhere between Escher and Timmy Mallet, it’s a little harsh on the eyes at first, but something of a grower (not a patch on MGMT’s similarly lurid Congratulations sleeve though). The album, the band’s fourth to date, is due for release via Rough Trade on March 21, and contains ten new tracks. ‘Under Cover of Darkness’ is the lead single.” (factmag)

02. Any more bands playing fashion week parties? Creep tonight in NYC, Arcade Fire pre-Grammys secret show in LA

“The National played Milk Studios Wednesday. Kanye West didn’t play, but he was hanging out at the “Best New Menswear Designers in America Fall 2011 Collections event” at Ace Hotel last night. Creep (with Nina Sky) are playing Tribeca Grand tonight.” (brooklynvegan)

03. Watch Arcade Fire’s KROQ Acoustic Session

“Arcade Fire unplugged still sounds a whole lot like regular Arcade Fire, it turns out. The band is in L.A. to perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night, and while in town, they took the opportunity to record an acoustic session for the L.A. radio station KROQ. ” Nice sweater. (pitchfork)

04. Boozetown

“We all dream of a homeland for drunks, but one visionary spent much of his life trying to make that dream a reality. This is his story.” (coudal)
