Velour Todd Shirt

Selectism - velour-todd-shirt-01

Yes, it’s more patchwork. This pattern isn’t as obtrusive as most patterns we put up, so some of our more classically styled readers shouldn’t be too put off. In fact, if you put a crewneck over this, there’s a high probability that most folks wouldn’t even see the pattern. It’s basically patchwork for folks who don’t like patchwork. (Tenue De Nimes)

Monitaly Field Jacket

Selectism - monitaly-field-jacket-01

If you’re on the lookout for a good hooded jacket, consider this for your collection. It’s from Monitaly, so it’s not cheap, but consider it investment. Especially when it’s essentially the price of two so-so coats. We’re sure you know the argument by now, but it rings true. Buy less, but buy better. (CHCM)

Adidas have just released the video look book/mood film to their SLVR collection. We like that striped shirt the guy’s wearing. And, if you’re not into the shirt, you can just watch two pretty people walking about. It’s a win/win.

Drip Coffee Craze

01. Bob Dylan, Avett Brothers, Mumford & Sons Performing Together at the Grammys
“Less than a week before the 53rd Grammys take place, the award ceremony has announced that Bob Dylan make his fifth-ever Grammy appearance. Just in case Bob Dylan alone wasn’t enough, he will also be playing with Mumford & Sons and the Avett Brothers.” (paste)

02. Coffee’s Slow Dance (above)
“The narrow spout produces a thin, precise stream, and the handle brings your hand into a naturally balanced position — instead of flooding the filter and letting it drip, you deliver a measured amount of water over a period of several minutes. It might sound precious or tedious, but the control is enthralling. It’s like picking up a drafting pen after only writing with Magic Markers.” (nyt)

03. Jim James & M. Ward Start Creme Brulee Blog!?
“A site for those of you who love the Jim James and M. Ward part of MoF AND Crème brûlé, I’m guessing that should be a pretty large audience.” (foodisthenewrock)

04. The Last Roll of Kodachrome—Frame by Frame!
“A celebrated photographer makes a passage to India—and marks the end of an era.” (vf)

Our Legacy Pop-Up in New York City at ODIN

While Our Legacy can be found in many doors throughout Europe, it’s a bit more difficult to find the U.S. Hopefully this will change but until then, those in New York City can swing by ODIN. Our Legacy has taken up space in ODIN and features a wide range of the look their Spring/Summer 2011. I consider then to be one of the best menswear brands out there. The fit is always on point and cut for modern men.

YouTube Preview Image

The full length dropped this week globally. No one is making music like James Blake these days. If you expected “CMYK,” then you’re not thinking broad enough. Well worth a view and listen. Catch him Stateside in Brooklyn and at SXSW.

Steven Alan Autumn/Winter 2011 Looks

A proper prep movement looks as though it could be the next movement in menswear but mountaineering and elements of the outdoors remains. Steven Alan works a variety of inspirations, including the two mentioned, for his Autumn 2011 collection which mixes tweeds against proper outerwear and more. The collection works in a progressive way into something beyond pulling from the classic. It’s a fresh re-form on old inspirations, while remaining forward thinking. (fashionologie)

St. James Striped Shirt

St. James Striped Shirt

The resurgence of all things nautical has been evident in menswear for the last couple years. There have only been a couple that have really taken this style and adopted it in their brand.” The SAINT-JAMES Company was been established in Lower Normandy, in the commune of Saint-James, close to Mont Saint-Michel.”  The company has made the “style of the sea” attainable for all.. “Its fame is based upon a cult item of clothing “the genuine pure new knitted woolen Breton seaman’s sweater”. Originally intended for deep sea fishermen, it was then adopted by known seafarers and amateur yachtsmen.” Available at  GeneralStore.
