Blackbird By Han Wolf Sun In Tortoise Sunglasses

One of three new Han sunglasses for Seattle’s Blackbird. By the way, they’re great. “Blackbird presents our dark and dapper take on classic American shades. The large, semi-transparent tortoise frames are complimented by thick and sturdy, black temple arms. Perfect for everyone’s spring look.” Priced well at $165 and damn good looking.

selectism - SeaVees 02/64 Baja Slip On

In February of 1964, Surfing Magazine highlighted the surf adventure of Californians headed south to Baja. SeaVees celebrates the legendary “Sufari to Baja” with the 02/64 Baja Slip on, a shoe with textured linen uppers. The simple utilitarian shoe is lined with naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic bamboo canvas – a total win considering you’d never wear socks with these bad boys.

Opening Ceremony Iven Derby Shoe

Selectism - opening-ceremony-derby-01

Opening Ceremony continue dropping footwear gems for those like their shoes on the fashion forward side. We’re not usually fans of distressed pieces, but it works well on these derbies. The shape of the shoe is nice too – not too pointed or too stubby in it’s roundness – although the sole looks a little off. That extreme nitpick aside, it’s a good looking shoe. (Opening Ceremony)

Paul Smith Jeans Sweatshirt

Selectism - paul-smith-jeans-sweatshirt-01

The short sleeved sweatshirt always get the – excuse the bad pun – short end of the stick, but there’s really nothing to be afraid of. Just put on a tee underneath and you’ll be good to go. Don’t wear it anywhere yet though, you’ll run the risk of looking like you’re pushing the seasons. And as we recently witnessed people going sockless in espadrilles in February, we can confirm first hand that it’s never a good look. (Asos)

Oliver Spencer Baseball Jacket

With a first catwalk show out of the way, we thought we’d look at some clothes available in stores now. We featured this jacket way back in our Capsule round ups, so any OS fans can now get their mitts on one. We like it now for the same reasons we liked it then, it’s a grown up version of a piece that can look juvenile at times. (Number Six)

Beau Colburn keeps us busy on Thursdays…

01. What your favorite classic rock band says about you
“Journey: You own those running shoes that are shaped like feet.” (mcsweeney’s)

02. Why we’re paying more for coffee
“Nobody wants to be told that they have (or should, or need to) pay more for something. Especially when that something happens to be what gets them going every morning and sustains life after boring midafternoon meetings. But it’s true, friends: The coffee market is changing, and we have to change with it. Here’s why those precious beans will soon cost us all a bit more bread.” (seriouseats)

03. Here’s what you do if locked in a Vegas hotel with a $150K slo-mo video camera (above)
“If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you combined the eerie, delicate beauty of liquid sculpture photography with the hotel-room-trashing excess of Las Vegas, sports videographer Tom Guilmette is your hero. He locked himself in his room at the Palms Casino with an ultra high-speed Phantom Flex camera and stayed up all night splashing, spitting, spraying and breaking things at 2,564 frames per second. Fine art or a fine mess? It’s both!” (fastcodesign)

04. Is food the new indie rock?
“There are parallels between music consumption and the modern foodie movement, at least in the United States. Both have become sources for documentation. At gigs, a significant portion of the audience watches the show through the lens of a mobile phone. The hit songs that used to produce the most dancing now produce the most illuminated screens held aloft. Foodies are chronicling their eating habits in a similar fashion. At meals, people stop to photograph their food and upload the images to social networking sites before they take their first bite.” (guardian)

Selectism - levis-liberty-shirt-01

Liberty print pops up again in this collab with Levi’s by Takahiro Kuraishi. If the early part of this season is anything to go by, it’s gonna be a pattern filled summer. This one’s a round collared, pullover number. The pockets are a little oddly placed, but it’s not a dealbreaker. This is a Japan only affair, so don’t forget your proxy. (E-Levis)
