2012 Porsche Panamera S Hybrid

A killer new hybrid Porsche will make its debut next month in Geneva. The Porsche Panamera S Hybrid is no slouch. As Autoblog tells us: “Porsche has just announced that the it is expanding its hybrid fleet with the addition of the Panamera S Hybrid. The big sedan will come to the party packing a combined 380 horsepower, a figure Porsche says is good enough to get the machine to 62 mph in six seconds flat en route to a top speed of 168 mph. A total of 333 of those ponies are derived from the company’s supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, while the remaining 47 horsepower will be served up by an electric motor.” We’re getting there folks. The future.

John Kubasek Carbon Fiber Money Clip Knife

John Kubasek Creditor Carbon Fiber Money Clip Knife

When this one came through via Berlin, the carbon fiber title set me back, but once I viewed this money clip knife by John Kubasek. I could see why it came recommended. The description below says it all. It’s all about the size on this one.

There is a reason why this blade won the Most Innovative Knife Design.  Custom-made by John Kubasek, unfolded the knife is a little over 6 inches long, but folded up it’s just 3.5” x 1 1/4″.  It’s the thickness of just three credit cards, so it’s meant to fit in a wallet, hence the name “Creditor”.   If you remove the clip it will be the size of a credit card and will fit in your wallet. The knife uses a Delrin ball detent so it will lock when opened and pressing down on the side of the handle unlocks it.

Bunney Jewelry

Selectism - bunney-jewelry-01

The second in a trio of posts from the showroom next door is Andrew Bunney’s jewelery line, which has been expanded this season. After creating the shoe horn to end all shoe horns, he’s now turned to ‘love locks’. Inspired by padlocks used for declarations of love in Paris, Andrew decided to make these in precious metals in Wolverhampton, a town where a lot of locks – your chubb’s, etc – were originally made.

Alongside that is another new addition is a keychain (with an optional and rather hefty rabbits foot) and there’s the badge, which is a mainstay from the first collection. In summary, It’s jewelery a man can get involved with.

Blackbird “Naturally Dyed” Oxford Shirts

Blackbird "Naturally Dyed" Oxford Shirts
Blackbird, one of the better known boutiques in the Northwest U.S.A., brings their first collection of shirts. The “Lot No.11 Naturally Dyed Oxford” comes for spring and looks to be a great fitting shirt. The shirt is slim and is made of 100% cotton. The shirt offers: a two inch standard collar, 1 3/16 button placket closure with seven blackened wood buttons, single rounded-off elongated chest patch pocket and a laundry list of other fine details. The shirts are made in the U.S.A. and each piece stands to be “one-of-a-kind” due to its natural dying process. The shirts are offered in four different colorways that are each assigned a different lot number. Available at Blackbird.

Armando Cabral Autumn/Winter 2011

Selectism - armando-cabral-autumn-2011-01

The showroom next door have been showcasing quality goods for a while now and this season is no different. Armando Cabral’s footwear is still a relative puppy in the shoe world, but their take on things have always caught our eye. This season they’ve managed to pull off the unenviable task of making one of those brogued sneaker hybrids not look like the child of frankenstein. Elsewhere, there’s some good looking shoes for the folks who like a bit of colour on their feet.

Take a leap to a couple more models.

ACNE Hyde Fold-Out Bag with Leather Case

ACNE Hyde Fold-Out Bag with Leather Case

Here’s a piece from the ACNE Spring 2011 collection is happily used by women but is also perfect for a guy looking for a pack-away bag that works for hitting the market. With the Hyde, you start with a leather zipper case; something that looks like an oversized passport holder. Once opened, it expands into a bag where the leather sets itself as the bottom. This is dope.
