Nigel Cabourn Deck Jacket

Selectism - nigel-cabourn-linen-denim-jacket-01

We all know about Cabourn at this point, so let’s get straight to the point – this is a handsome jacket. It’s a linen affair so you’d probably be best off waiting until it heats up a bit before getting this one. A wise man once said that ‘nothing makes a man dress for a season that isn’t here yet like an expensive coat’. This wise man may be us watching a man wearing a Cabourn parka when it was still autumn. Still, heed those wise words. (LN-CC)

selectism - Draught Dray Goods

Here’s a first look at the handmade leather accessories from Missoula, Montana’s own Draught Dry Goods. The items are function first, simply detailed products. The phone carry, shown above, is cut to house an iPhone 4 and ones cash and cards. Draught’s other leather goods are similar in relationship to the things housed within.

After the jump view Draught Dry Goods’ card case, key pouch, and camera strap. Oh, there is also a belt.

Selectism - christopher-shannon-autumn-2011-01

Continuing the London menswear theme, here’s a look at Christopher Shannon’s show from yesterday. If you have a love for the quilted, the sporty, or the quilted and sporty, then this show is for you. We’d like to pick a favourite piece, but there’s too much to choose from. Instead we’re gone with sixteen looks we’re enamoured with, take a leap to see them. (GQ)

Beams+ M51 Parka

Selectism - beams-plus-m51-jacket-01

Beams Plus just landed in Tres Bien and here’s our pick of the bunch. We all know about the M51 at this point, but if you’ve got an aversion to a vintage one, this Beams one should do the trick. It’s got that sweet, techy stuff that everyone adores including a removable lining that uses polartec – which, apparently, will keep you warm. You could wear them on their own as well, but the overall ugliness of the lining should prevent anyone from doing that. (Tres Bien)

Oliver Spencer Autumn/Winter 2011

Selectism - oliver-spencer-autumn-2011-01

We’ve gotta admit, we were a little taken back when we heard news of Oliver Spencer’s catwalk debut but the results were pleasantly surprising. Followers of Spencer should know what to expect (we even previewed a couple of the pieces back at Capsule) but newcomers should be pleasantly surprised. They used a diverse range of models, including the usual suspects – aka the kind of guy you’re ashamed to admit you recognise – amongst some interesting fellows and men about town.

Take a leap to see a couple of looks from the show.

Selectism | Around the Web

selectism - Selectism | Around the Web

Today, our links are all about cycling.

01. London Olympics 2012: nation ‘can be very proud’ of velodrome (Above)

“Brailsford said that it only seemed “five minutes ago” that he was looking at a cardboard model of the track and is hoping it will prove a successful Olympic venue for Great Britain’s Track Cycling Team next summer.” (Telegraph).

02. En Selle Marcel // The first Luxury Bicycle Lifestyle Concept Store in Paris

“We’d like to introduce you the first ever Luxury Bicycle Lifestyle Concept Store in Paris – En Selle Marcel.  This is not your typical “bike shop” of rows and rows of bikes, odd smells and a hustling salesman interrupting your experience (or lack thereof).  This is an experience all its own.  It forces you to look at the details, to bring back memories of joy and perhaps envision yourself indulging in luxury riding the urban fabric. Located near the historical Montorgeuil street near Etienne Marcel (34 rue du Grenier Saint-Lazare – 75003 Paris);  En Selle Marcel is committed to crafting superior bicycles and timeless vintage accessories.   These luxury bicycles are distinct on the city street; riders of En Selle Marcel bicycles are a class above the average commuter.” (Yatzer).

03. Bishop Bikes: Montagne’s Stainless Track Bike

“Just because Portland framebuilders have forgotten about the track bike, doesn’t mean it needs saving. Chris Bishop’s work is hands down, some of the nicest work to come out of the States in recent years. I know I jock him all the time but damn, this guy has the entire package down to an art!” (Prolly).

04. Wishbone Design Studio “3-in-1” Bikes

“Wishbone Design Studio is owned and operated by a small family out of a “groovy old shed” in Wellington New Zealand. Using raw and natural recyclable materials,  Wishbone is in the process of achieving social, ethical and environmental sustainability by reducing overall consumption. The Wishbone “3-bikes-in-1” wooden frame is made to accommodate either 2 or 3 wheels and can be flipped as your child grows and becomes taller. In a single blow, this bike replaces multiple products that your kids could have ripped through in a span of 5 years.  Wishbone Design Studio is truly reinventing when and how kids are learning to ride bikes!” (Lil Snob).

And now, an added bonus…
