Bel & Bel Vespa Seats

Bel & Bel Vespa Seats

We’ll assume that these Vespa Seats from Bel & Bel are made from dead Vespas rather than old frames that could be restored (I just feel better thinking that). These limited edition seats use old frames to form something new from the classic Piaggio forms. The ergonomic Vespa chairs feature a hydraulic height adjuster. I would take one for the office.

Loro Piana Spring/Summer 2011 Men’s Looks

loro piana spring 2011 1 Loro Piana Spring/Summer 2011 Mens Looks

As the old saying goes, “Italians do it better.” In most cases, I would say they just do it their own way. While the fashion houses of the world, including all the upstart lines, shift and refocus their looks to accomodate a hungry market looking for the latest thing, brands like Loro Piana just continue to offer proper menswear as they always have.  Embarrassingly, we have not revisited the full looks from this sportswear line in some time. We plan on changing that… starting now.

Chris Milliman “Gym Rat”

selectism - Chris Milliman "Gym Rat"

Complementing his recent “Hickory” project, Chris Milliman turns his attention away from rural hoops and to the urban game in his latest series, entitled “Gym Rat.” The photos land just as March Madness is heating up, and we’re highlighting it today as the second week of the NCAAs tips off. Milliman’s sense of personality – expressed through both people and space – is apparent throughout.

Head to Curated to see all of “Gym Rat.”

The Art of Eating

Selectism - art-of-eating-01

Launching last week, The Art of Eating is a new exhibition that looks at the relationship between art and food in the present and past. Subtitled ‘From still life to Ferran Adria’, it looks like one for the foodies. Well, the Barcelona based foodies anyway. On until 26 June, it’s one to keep an eye out for if you’re in town. Take a leap to see a few shots from the exhibition and the address.

Journal de Nimes Issue #7

Journal de Nimes Issue 7

That latest from Amsterdam’s finest. Journal de Nimes drops their seventh issue on the market. “The North American issue. Two of the many highlights of this issue are a portrait of Cone Denim and the New Haven Math Club photo-shoot for Gant Rugger. Another must-read is an extensive piece in which Tenue de Nîmes asked influencers like Andy Spade and Alain de Botton to tell us all about their personal North American icons. And then there is our Japan correspondent Anneke Beerkens, who analyzed the Japanese passion for America and all things American in her article ‘Amekaji’ while Japan was hit by the earthquake.” Check out the full issue online for your viewing…

Curated turns us onto this:

“Young Dutch designer Mieke Meijer is responsible for the fascinating “Industrial Archaeology” series. “Inspired by Becher’s photographs,” Meijer “plays with volume and shape” allowing “autonomous interior objects [to] arise.”

Margaret Howell Guernsey Jumper

Selectism - margaret-howell-guernsey-jumper-01

Continuing the general theme of relaxation this morning, here’s this Margaret Howell jumper. While you could wear it out and about (and given the standard Howell pricetag, it’d be silly not to) but this would be best left for those days when you’re doing absolutely nothing. (Margaret Howell)

Sandqvist ‘Dustin’ Briefcase

Selectism - sandqvist-dustin-briefcase-01

Rucksacks are great and all, but they don’t exactly command respect if you’re in a business situation do they? Which is why you should have at least one briefcase in your team of bags. This Sandqvist one is sharp and even has a laptop compartment – making it easier to whip out when showing that video you’ve been working on. (Grandpa)

A. Sauvage Cord Trousers

Selectism - a-savauge-cords-01

We’ve been following A. Sauvage for a while now but, to the best of our knowledge, this is the first time we’ve seen separate pieces of his available on these here interwebz. Depending on the weather, light blue trousers can be either a sure sign that’s spring’s here or a sure sign that you wish spring was here. We’d prefer it to be the former, don’t blame you if it’s the latter. It is nearly April after all, it’s about time Spring stopped messing about and just stuck around. (Matches)

Wings + Horns Sweatpants

Selectism - wings-horns-sweatpants-01

Looking sharp is great and all, but we all need to chill out sometimes. And when it’s time to do that, we’re heading straight to the sweatpants. We like these ones because they’re not as skin tight as several of the designer versions, would look good rolled and, frankly, won’t leave you – for lack of a better term – overexposed in the crotch area. You know what we mean. (Ssense)
