Highsnob shows us the latest from Monocle Magazine in support of the Japan crisis. “The bracelet is embossed with ‘Support Japan’ on one side and ‘Brooklyn Tokyo x Monocle’ on the reverse. It has an adjustable button fastening and uses leather from tanneries in the Miyagi region, where the earthquake and tsunami struck. Made in Japan – for Japan.”

Dapper Dan #3

Dapper Dan #3

Issue #3 of Dapper Dan has been delivered. You, of course, have more than a wide share of magazines on the market that cover menswear. Dapper Dan’s approach falls more into what we consider to be a lifestyle front and center approach. “In Dapper Dan’s third issue, Angelo Flaccavento studies the cult of Rei Kawakubo; legendary designer Yohji Yamamoto pulls a bomb from his heart; Berlin-based artist Christopher Kline guides us through the stations of a snakebraid; Thomas Eberwein and Jerome Rigaud discuss the creative potentials of technology; photographers Charlotte Ballesteros and Hubert Marot explore the paradox of beauty…”

Merkled Pot Rack

Selectism - merkled-pot-rack-01

We hear pot racks are the new black. Don’t blame us, we don’t make the rules. Cupboards are too old school for our tastes, so this pot rack is right up our alley. We have it on firm authority that Rick Ross has one, so bring that up when someone asks why you spent $325 on a pot rack. That last sentence might be a lie. (Merkled)

“Book Art” Book

21 March 2011, 16.30 | Posted in Books & Magazines | No comments »

Selectism - book-art-01Book Art Book Art Book is one of the slew of new releases catching our eye from Gestalten. Focusing on ‘art created from and within books’, it showcases how useful the physical form of books are. We’re also well aware that’s it’s nearing irony that we’re promoting it through a website. Either way, it’s a great looking book and it’ll be out in April from Gestalten. Pre-order from Amazon Book Art Book.

Take a leap to see spreads from the book.

Selectism - sixinch-01-curatedmag

Curated turns us onto this foam block chair:

“Produced by SIXINCH, the Dual Cut Foam Block by Kitmen Keung, splits a rectangular block into two L-shapes. The simple idea translates to rather incredible functionality. It can work as a chair. Or, a pedestal for computer or tv. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use too.”

Giant Shoe Car

Selectism - giant-shoe-car-01

Yes, you read that headline correctly. It’s car, made like a shoe, that you can drive around town. Our heads are exploding at the thought of this. Made by the Kang shoe company, it took six months to make and can carry two people. With a maximum speed of 20mph, it’s designed for Wiz Khalifa levels of stunting on haters and is a rather genius promotional tool (we’re talking about it aren’t we?). We hold our breath in anticipation for a Tricker’s for Junya Watanabe version. (Orange)

Sunspel Tracksuit Bottoms

Selectism - sunspel-tracksuit-bottoms-01

Now this is something we can get behind. As you might’ve guessed by now, when we get casual, we really get casual. And what’s more laid back than a pair of tracksuit bottoms. A fair few labels have been turning their hands to tracksuit bottoms for a while now but we pay attention when a label like Sunspel make a pair. In fact, you could even wear these with those Gourmet’s we just posted and look pretty cool. (Sunspel)
