selectism - Converse Star Player 75 by Ronnie Fieg

Ronnie Fieg,  who we discussed a stellar Chippewa collaboration with not long ago, has worked with Converse on two handsome editions of the Converse Star Player 75. Available as a navy leather high-top and an olive low (for now), the Star Player 75 is similar to the Chuck Taylor but with the edition of Converse’s famed chevron logo. Fieg’s models are all leather – laces, midsole, calf-skin lining. Classy Spring sneakers.

The Converse Star Player 75 is available now from David Z. Photographs by Sean Quincy Munro.

Selectism - recycled-toy-sculptures-1

Curated turns us onto this bit of news:

“Robert Bradford has made a name for himself with his recycled toy sculptures. The idea of each toy having a history, a story to tell, is actually more important to the artist than the fact that they are being re-used rather than being thrown away. The outcome is at time beautiful and detailed, most of the time life size, sometimes even larger.”

Margaret Howell for Industrial Facility Cycling Shirt

selectism - Margareta Howell for Industrial Facility Cycling Shirt

High design, high tech cycling gear with a tailored aesthetic certainly shouldn’t raise any eyebrows amongst this readership, we’ve seen a fair crop of the stuff in recent years. The latest finds Margaret Howell working with Industrial Facility on a traditional blue button up with cycle jersey details – note the back pockets. The shirt is more traditional design, low tech than some of the other items in the niche… but it fits directly into the burgeoning market for cycle apparel that looks and acts with the same grace on the saddle and in the bar. Selectism - crockett-jones-weymouth-01

One word: Sharp. While we advocate style mixing to the extreme – staying within the parameters of one genre of clothing is the quickest way to devolve into costume – some things can only be worn in one manner. These shoes are sharp and, thus, should only be worn with a sharp outfit. And that’s the closest we’ll get to dictating style to you. (Edwards)
