Parabellum Bison Leather Officer Wallet

More from the Parabellum family of bison leather made goods – the best. This office wallet looks beautiful in texture. There is really nothing like it. “The Officer wallet is designed with ten individual credit card slots, a contrast brown leather-lined note fold, and is finished with a white ceramic-covered snap press stud lock. The whole item is also reinforced with a Kevlar coating and is handcrafted in Italy from 100% deep-textured Reservation Bison Leather.” Oki-ni has them.

Our Legacy 90’s BD Shirt

Selectism - our-legacy-90s-shirt-01

We won’t rest until everyone has at least one patterned shirt. This one’s a little easier than others in that it’s basically a striped shirt on steroids. So if you’re not ready for the floral, bamboo and have had enough of camo (a trend that went from 0-120 in 2 months), here’s one you’ll like. (Oi Polloi)

Stephan Schneider Jacket

Selectism - stephan-schneider-jacket-01
We’re not sure exactly when it happened, but a search through the archives will show that we’re quite the fans of Stephan Schneider’s jackets. What can we say? They look darn good. For instance, we’d never have thought that a grey and green striped jacket would pique our interests, but whaddya know?  (South Willard)

Wood Wood ‘Larry’ T-Shirt

Selectism - wood-wood-larry-tee-01

It’s not tee weather by any stretch of the word, but looking won’t hurt. We do wonder when too many striped tees become a problem. Is it when your wardrobe starts looking like you’ve been raiding a french naval officer’s? If you can handle another striped shirt in your wardrobe (or gawd forbid, don’t have one in the first place) then this should be up your alley. (Goodhood)

Hedi Slimane on Fashion and Luxury

A look back at an insightful interview wit Hedi Slimane from 2010. Style gets Hedi Slimane for his first interview in three years (as of 2010). Though done over email, the discussion and topics are very insightful and give a view of the Slimane’s opinion and presence in the world of fashion and music. His thoughts on “new” luxury are worth a read by themselves. They remain on point today.

Selectism Around the Web

Beau Colburn rounds up Thursdays…

01.Taking a less-traveled road to Washington
“He could have taken Amtrak from Boston to Washington, D.C. He could have driven down I-95. Instead, in an improvised Tour de Northeast Corridor, three-time U.S. cyclocross champion and former road racer Tim Johnson led The Ride on Washington — an epic 475-mile, five-day commute to the National Bike Summit that begins Tuesday night. The riders raised money along the way to benefit a national advocacy group, Bikes Belong. They also did it to prove a point: “That riding a bike to get somewhere, not racing, is the purest form of biking,” Johnson said.” (espn)

02. Conan O’Brien Kinetic Typography (above)
“These custom crafted layouts reference a variety of eclectic type design. The combination of eclectic typography and modern 3D letter forms achieved in Cinema 4D provides a contrast between old and new. This contrast emphasizes time to create a sturdy and timeless object. This solidity and timelessness is the perfect representation of Conan O’Brien.” (vimeo)

03. Roger Ebert’s “Battle: Los Angeles” Review
“When I think of the elegant construction of something like “Gunfight at the OK Corral,” I want to rend the hair from my head and weep bitter tears of despair. Generations of filmmakers devoted their lives to perfecting techniques that a director like Jonathan Liebesman is either ignorant of, or indifferent to. Yet he is given millions of dollars to produce this assault on the attention span of a generation.” (rogerebert)

04. Yale Law School Library Lending Out Therapy Dog for Stressed-Out Students
“The law library intends to run a three day pilot program starting on March 28, 2011 during which students will be able to “check out” our certified library therapy dog, Monty for thirty minute periods. We hope that making a therapy dog available to our students will prove to be a positive addition to current services offered by the library. It is well documented that visits from therapy dogs have resulted in increased happiness, calmness, and overall emotional well-being.” (newyork)
