Lou Dalton T-Shirt

Selectism - lou-dalton-t-shirt-01

We usually steer clear of anything labelled as African or ‘ethnic’ – we’re not fans of vague descriptions – but we do like this tee. We’re not so crazy about wearing grey tees in hot weather (sweat patches love grey shirts) but we do like this one. Just be sure to, as the kids say, go hard on the deodorant when you wear this. [DJ Clue voice] New bag, new bag new bag (repeated until infinity)[/DJ Clue]. We’ve all been saving our pennies for a H by Harris bag since they first came out and now here’s another reason to add to the fund. Coming in ‘fire engine red’, we’re already reaching into the red backpack savings account (something that didn’t exist before we started writing this post). [Browns]

Selectism - rick-owens-leather-jacket-01

We’ve always thought Rick Ross’ most ridiculous  claim was that he wore Rick Owens. Yeah, saying you were a drug dealer who met Noriega was silly but, really, him in Rick Owens?  Next he’ll be saying he’s a small in Band of Outsiders. So here’s something else for Rawse to lie about wearing. (Farfetch)

Video | Big K.R.I.T ‘Dreamin’

YouTube Preview Image

How strong is hip hop right now? It’s at the point where if you’re saying any one band or rapper ’saved hip hop’, we discount your opinion. Because you clearly don’t listen to enough of it. One of our favourites out is Big K.R.I.T, who’s song ‘Dreamin’ you can see above. He’s releasing a (free) album today, so it’d be smart to give that a download.

Recluse Straight Razor

Recluse Straight Razor

Damn, this looks good. Boston’s own Recluse, more known for their work in the bicycle world, moves into new territory with their metalsmith work. This straight razor is a helluva way to get things going. Dana DiPlacido is the designer. He’s currently still at Mass College of Art working towards a BFA in jewelry and metalsmith. The images tell is all. Simply beautiful and elegant. Is it for sale? We hope so. Our our Aaron Panone turned us onto this one…

Beckham takes the cover of issue 13 of Fantastic Man. In fact, they’re calling him the “most famous man in the world.” Could be true. He’s at least one of the world’s best known footballers. In their words: “Perhaps the most famous gentleman in the world, Mr. BECKHAM is freshly coiffed care of ALAIN PICHON, and photographed at a pie and mash shop in his native London by ALASDAIR McLELLAN. Other notable profiles include: the new director of the TATE MODERN, CHRIS DERCON, who discusses the fantastic prospects for the museum’s upcoming HERZOG & DE MEURON extension; owner of THE INDEPENDENT newspaper, the media oligarch Mr. EVGENY LEBEDEV.” Find it on newsstands soon. While you’re there pick up other periodicals and support print. #serious

02. Best Kept Secrets

“There has been so much written about the death of Elizabeth Taylor over the past two days… and deservedly so… Still, another passing caught my eye on Thursday, as I skimmed the obituaries: Dorothy Young, who was the last living member of Harry Houdini’s stage show, died Sunday at a retirement home in Tinton Falls, N.J. She was 103 years old.” (nyt the 6th floor)

03. Coliseum /Superchunk Split 7″ for Record Store Day

“Coliseum are waving their (black) flag in support of Record Store Day, and will team up with Superchunk to release a split 7″ of Misfits covers. Limited to 2000 copies in three colorways (yellow, magenta, black), Superchunk will take on “Horror Business” while Coliseum tears down “Bullet”. The 7″ is not the first time that Coliseum has paid tribute to Danzig, as Coliseum teamed up with Doomriders in 2005 to record the Not of This World split of Danzig covers for Level Plane.” (brooklynvegan)

04. Don’t Get Pompus With Me

“October, 1996. Having recently been interviewed for Rolling Stone, an angry Hunter S. Thompson writes a heated letter to his good friend and long-time collaborator, illustrator Ralph Steadman, and threatens to sever their relationship. Steadman’s sturdy response, in which he essentially refuses to roll over, is golden.” (lettersofnote)
