Lodge Cast Iron Skillet

selectism - Lodge Cast Iron Skillet

Much respect to Blackbird. They now carry the 12-inch cast iron skillet from Lodge, one of the best pans I own and what should be staple in any man’s kitchen. Lodge grill pans are also highly recommended. Best thing is the pre-seasoning – so no need to cook bacon in it for a month or back it in salt before becoming master of stove top burgers.

More looks at one of the most beautiful, and simple, skillets around after the jump.

selectism - Furni Black "Rockasins"

Furni will release the second round of their “Rockassin” shoe in May 9. You have until them to order a handmade pair.

Here’s what the French Canadian blokes have to say, “It’s time to “rock the moc”. We’ve teamed up with a family owned business with almost 40 years of experience making snowshoes, moccasins and other Indian handcrafts here in Canada to offer you these beauties. These crepe soled ankle high moccasins are made from supple “black”leather. Each pair will be skillfully crafted by hand to order in small batches less than 250kms from our Montreal workshop.”

Selectism - bedwin-heartbreakers-sweatshirt

Confession time: One of the SL team is a huge Prince fan (hint: he’s writing this post) so any clothing that has any sort of Prince reference is guaranteed an appearance on this here site. This piece passes that test. And for all the people saying ‘are they that easily pleased?’ Yes. Yes we are. (Garbstore)

His and Hers

29 April 2011, 13.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

Selectism - his-hers-fashion-01-curatedmag

Curated turns us onto this:

““His & Hers explores the relationship between gender and fashion over the past 250 years. Clothing can act as an immediate signifier of gender – however, while making distinctions between “masculine” and “feminine” styles of clothing may seem natural, gendering is not a biological phenomenon. While much of the show discusses the changing ideas of “appropriate” attire for each gender, it also includes examples of so-called unisex and androgynous fashion. More than 100 garments, accessories, and textiles from the Museum’s permanent collection are featured chronologically, from a seemingly “feminine” 18th-century man’s velvet suit, to a woman’s “power suit” from the 1980s. Other works include  innovative designers such as Giorgio Armani, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Gianni Versace, and Vivienne Westwood. The exhibition is curated by Colleen Hill and Jennifer Farley.”

Riveria Club Panel Shirt

Selectism - riveria-club-panel-shirt-01

Speaking of things that now look tame after the flower power movement – don’t panelled shirts look downright pedestrian these days? A season or two or go they were the height of style for folks who wanted to look different but weren’t ready for the Bernard Willheims of the world. Now they’re just nice shirts. (Revolve)
