Thomsen for Rivierias Shoes

27 April 2011, 14.30 | Posted in Shoes | No comments »

Selectism - thomsens-for-riverias-02

In another case of a collaboration that makes sense, French shirt brand Thomsen have teamed up with spring shoe makers Rivierias to create a capsule collection of footwear. As you’d expect from anything involving the use of liberty print, it’s patterns galore with floral, paisley and stripes (aka the dull cousin of the pattern family) all making an appearance. As of now, it’s only available at the Paris based Thomsen store, so you’ll have to be in the area (or be ready to get your proxy on) to get your hands on these. (viacomit)

See more after the leap.

Camo Vento Trousers

Selectism - camo-vento-trousers-01

Is everyone ready for pleated trousers? Because they’re not going anywhere. We’ve heard the warning horns about them for eons, but despite that (or because of them) designers keep working on versions that look good. These ones are by Camo and they have us reconsidering our aversion to the high waisted trouser. We have Simon Cowell to thank for our reticence on that issue. (ASOS)

Soulland Wiper Jacket

Selectism - soulland-wiper-jacket-01

This isn’t really suited for the warm days of spring but, let’s face it, if you live in a temperamental climate, that won’t be everyday. And when the sun goes into hiding, you could do with a jacket that isn’t as heavy as your winter joints but still has a bit of heft to it. It’s also a sneaky way of wearing a varsity inspired piece without looking like you’re wearing a varsity. (C-Store)

Selectism - graffiti-cocktail-shaker

Curated turns us onto this creation:

“Shake a can… except rather than prepare to bomb, prepare a drink suitable for 007. Cool product from MCA Chicago, and a good deal for $20.”

We wonder if we can get some in time for the royal wedding?

Levis for Opening Ceremony Popover Jacket

Everyone went a bit crazy over the promo images of this collab, so we feel obliged to post up one piece now it’s finally in stores. We’ve always had a bit of a beef with popover jackets – we don’t like doing a Houdini every time we want off our jackets – but we’re willing to make an exception for this one. (End)

B Store for Liberty White ‘Blythe’ Shirt

Short sleeve shirts are still a thorny topic. Do they make you look like you’re ready for the summer or like a photocopier salesman? In fact, what’s so bad about looking like a photocopier salesman? A short sleeve shirt and grey flannel trousers could look very good if the proportions were right. In fact, that might just be our new look for this year. Salesman Steez – you heard it here first. “Go the Fuck to Sleep” Book

"Go the Fuck to Sleep" Book

Boing Boing brings us this hilarious title of a children’s book and pretty honest …

Go the Fuck to Sleep Go the Fuck to Sleep Book is a bedtime book for parents who live in the real world, where a few snoozing kitties and cutesy rhymes don’t always send a toddler sailing off to dreamland. Honest, profane, and affectionate, Adam Mansbach’s verses and Ricardo Cortés’ illustrations perfectly capture the familiar—and unspoken—tribulations of putting your little angel down for the night, and open up a conversation about parenting in the process. Beautiful, subversive, and pants-wettingly funny…”

Slightly long wait on this one. Coming in October 2011. Genius. Pre-order from Amazon Go the Fuck to Sleep Book.

Selectism - henry-poole-suit

01. Prince of Wales at Henry Poole: Part 7 (Pictured)

“This week was the second, forward fitting for this Henry Poole suit. The shape at the back is much improved since Craig and Alex ripped it apart last time – a nice compromise between hiding the shape of my back and highlighting my seat with too sculpted a line. The shape through the waist is retained, however, by taking that excess cloth out of the foreparts.” (Permanent Style)

02. Out Now: Apartamento #7

“I love Apartamento so it’s great to see a new issue hit the shelves just in time for the Easter break.” (Magculture)

03. I ♥ Japan

“It was sort of a coincidence. I’d been reviewing the CDs I picked up on my trip to Japan a few months ago, and then I sat in with If By Yes as part of the Japan music festival here in NY last week. Then the earthquake and tsunami and the nuclear mess all hit—all of which made me want to get this Japanese playlist together faster than I normally would have. Thoughts of Japanese friends, culture and countryside welled up, and this music became a kind of soundtrack to my thoughts and feelings.” (David Byrne’s Journal)

04. Judge ends lockout; owners file appeal

“Seven weeks into the NFL lockout, players have an early triumph over the owners in court.

U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson ordered an immediate end to the lockout Monday, siding with the players in their bitter fight with the owners over how to divide the $9 billion business.” (ESPN)

Comune Holiday 2011 Collection

While the photos are not the greatest in terms of details, we bring focus onto Comune’s Holiday 2011 offer. “Shetland Wool, coated denim jackets and heavily insulated rain coats all make their way into Comune’s lineup alongside a few mid layer pieces to seal the deal.” (porhomme)
