See more after the leap.

Selectism - rope-bowl-01

Here’s a rope bowl from David Stark. What else can can we say about it? It’s a bowl. Made from rope. Made by David Stark. And that’s all there is to it. (BLTD)

Man About Town - Hedi Slimane's Los Angeles Issue

The latest issue of Man About Town, the biannual mens magazine, has released and it has been guest edited by Hedi Slimane this time. The Los Angeles Issue features John Baldessari, Raymond Pettibon, Gus Van Sant, Gore Vidal, Brian Wilson, Chris Burden and many others. Obviously a lot of the photography for the issue, including the cover, has been done by Hedi Slimane.

Here below is also a little preview video of the magazine, which is now available on news stands.

Deca Lounge Chair by Larry Parker

Selectism - parker-01-curatedmag

Curated turns us onto this chair. Yeah, we get turned onto chairs:

“Larry Parker, an American designer, produced his Deca Lounge Chair as a student project at College of Creative Studies in Detroit, MI. There are traces of classic design, from the wingback chair to mid-century modern wire frame side chairs, though Parker manages some individuality – impressive given that the chair is a student project.”

Browns Cotton Jersey Blazer

26 April 2011, 13.30 | Posted in Fashion | 1 comment »

Selectism - browns-jersey-blazer-01Despite our general love of all things dressed down, we do love a good summer blazer. Case in point – this Browns light blue number. It’s got all that sprezzy steez that folks have organically begun to like at the same time and, more importantly, it just looks good. (Browns)

Timo Weiland ‘Noah’s’ Windbreaker Jacket

Selectism - timo-weiland-windbreaker-01

After a tee marathon lately, we’ve unwittingly gone jacket mad this morning. Don’t ask us why, just bask in the jacket-y goodness we’re dishing out today. As we’ve demonstrated on many an occasion, we have a fondness for the patterns. We even remember the dark days when folks accused us of jumping the shark because of said fondness. Bad times. Anyhoo, now that menswear’s gone pattern mad this looks rather chilled out – and we no longer look like the crazed man on the street yelling about impending doom. (Forward)

Robert Geller Cadet Jacket

Selectism - robert-geller-cadet-jacket-01

Get your Top Gun on with this Robert Geller Jacket. And, if that wasn’t a manly enough reference, get your James Dean,Steve McQueen & Paul Newman on with this jacket. We’re not actually sure if any of those three actually wore a jacket like this but were going to make an assumption and say they did. Which means you’ll look exactly like all three of these actors when you put this on. (Aloha Rag)

Tricker’s Fo’ Tres Bien Shoes

Selectism - trickers-for-tres-bien-shoe-01

Those promiscuous folks at Tricker’s are at it again, this time teaming up with Tres Bien for this orange brogue. From what we can tell, it looks like a traditional English brogue instead of the longwing – the right decision, if we say so ourselves. There’s also a commando sole, natty white laces and eyelets and the best use of ‘fo’ since the Snoop Dogg poetry, “two plus two, it equals fo’, this is some love that can love foreva mo”. (Tres Bien)

Filson Italia Workwear Jacket

Selectism - filson-italia-workwear-jacket-01

With everyone having mined Americana for all it’s worth, there’s been a shift towards a more Italian influenced aesthetic (Italiacana?). For some it’s manifested in the form of suits and tailoring and for others, like the folks at Oi Polloi, it’s showcased by their love of more casual styles – think Paninari and their ilk. But there are still some workwear (it’s a dirty word now but someone has to say it) pieces that we wouldn’t mind in our wardrobe like this jacket. We hope this post doesn’t get us thrown out of the blogosphere, we promise to write about Lapo Elkann in the future. (Oi Polloi)
