Selectism - photgraphs-by-ben-01

01. Photographs by Ben (pictured)

Here’s a tumblr we quite enjoy. (photographs by Ben)

02. Surf’s Up at John Simons

“Current issue of Free & Easy has an extensive feature on what we call the popover shirt. Initially these button-downs were introduced by Gant back in the 60’s and became an Ivy style standard soon after.

In Inventory Magazine last year I wrote a tribute to Reyn Spooner and their classic reverse print Aloha popover.” (Garmsville)

03. Twitter Lovin’ 101: The Dos and Don’ts

“Twitter love has been in the air in 2011. From Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa to Chelsea Handler and 50 Cent to Esther Baxter and Joe Budden, plenty of rappers and their girls have let loose on intimate relationship details via the microblogging site. Sometimes, it works out alright, with the lovebirds Twitpicing or having easy-going exchanges; other times, things get ugly, and ex-girls beef with current ladies or ex-items lash out at one another. As these three pairings certainly won’t be the last instances of relationships that play out on Twitter, XXL provides the Dos and Don’ts of Twitter love.” (XXL)

04. PoV: Pharrell’s Floating Studio

“From Virginia Beach, Virginia, to enough money to afford a floating studio. I’d say that’s a come up. All those years of “Grindin’” (or grustling) pays off when making music while drifting across open waters is no longer a dream for Pharrell. Instead, it’s his reality. This just makes me want to hustle 100 times harder. Chances are I’ll never see that much money, but I can at least strive for a nice pool and jacuzzi in the back yard. Maybe even a nice fishing boat if I ever learn how to fish.

Seriously, whoever said money cannot buy happiness was dead on. It can’t. With that in mind though, dead white men on green pieces of paper can put a rather hefty down payment on it.” (Smoking Section)

Mountain Men: Marx, Mao, Lenin and Thoreau Figures

Garbstore delivers this “Mountain Men” figure set direct from Japan’s Research. The four “mountain men” ‘garbed’ in classic decades old hiking and mountaineering goods include Marx, Mao, Lenin, and “Civil Disobedience” writer, Henry David Thoreau. I’m not exactly sure how he got packed in on this excursion.
