Fresh seating for 2011 from Established & Sons. “A crossbreed of an armchair and a rocking chair, Soft Rocker is entirely upholstered, right to the end of its rockers. It provides the soothing motion of a rocking chair, with the comfort of an armchair. Except for the expressive curve of the actual rocker, the design is intentionally boxy to give the impression that the shape is halfway between reality and an isometric drawing. However, its static form is deceptive for once sat in, it gives way to soft, comfortable movement. The back, seat and arms are aligned to best support a mental state of ‘relaxed alertness’ the perfect pose for reading the paper, a prolonged gaze out of the window or a good conversation.”

• Anthony Bourdain discussing the career trajectory of David Chang in respect to classic films, including Ramen Girl and Tampopo.
• Exploring alkaline noodles, MSG, and the term “molecular gastronomy” with food scientist Harold McGee.
• Photography and art by Ben Jones, Gabriele Stabile, Mark Ibold, Pableaux Johnson, David Rees, Tony Millionaire, Mike Houston, Jeremy Earl, Matt Volz, and many others.
• Recipes galore from Chang, Wylie Dufresne, Mario Carbone and Rich Torrisi, Juan Mari Arzak, and others.

Recycled garments have been the spotlight of many menswear brands recently. This summer, Patagonia shares their vision with a newly designed boardshort that takes a “green” approach to manufacturing by making each pair recyclable by way of the Common Threads Recycling Program. The shorts come in 24 different fabrics for you to choose from. They trunks boasts a “lightweight, quick-drying 4.3oz 100% nylong with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.” The most interesting detail is the “self-draining side zip pocket with a corrosion-proof plastic zipper pull.” They also come in three custom outseams, 19″, 21″ and 23″ for added comfort and length.
