Torpedo 8 Piece Screwdriver Set

These beautiful cased screwdrivers from Torpedo fill two bills: looks and function. “Aluminum and stainless steel screwdriver set. 8 micro phillips and flathead screwdriver heads are stored inside shaft. Super grip. Assorted colors.” Kikkerland has them but those with with a Sears in town should be able to find comparable options.

The name “The Pollenators” can go in a variety of direction when used to name a pair of men’s summer pants.  Let’s be honest: any guy rocking these should be giving a reaffirming grip shake. It is Memorial Day weekend, so no one can call your choice “too soon.” Who cares what they all say. Rock these and make them yours. Look for us wearing them in Berlin. Welcome to Summer 2011. Bonobos has them.

Baxter of California Handmade Tortoise Combs

baxter 01 selectism Baxter of California Handmade Tortoise Combs

With 50 years experience producing grooming products (shampoo, skincare, etc.), Baxter of California has made the move to “grooming implements.” As with the products, Baxter is keeping this line simple, beginning with a beautiful handmade tortoise comb. Environmentalists will be pleased to learn that the combs are not real tortoise, but instead are produced from high quality cellulose acetate sheets (a natural, modified polymer derived from cotton and tree pulp cellulose). From cutting to polishing, each comb goes through a detailed 12-step process of manufacturing (all done by hand), resulting in smoothly tapered teeth and rounded tips for comfort and care of the hair and scalp.

Unquestionably handsome haircare, the combs come in three sizes.

Celtic Third Kit by Nike

selectism - Celtic Third Kit by Nike

Celtic first wore yellow and black back in the late 1990s. Of course, that wasn’t very long ago, but if we dig a little deeper we’re reminded that the use of quartered panels on a team strip dates back to the team’s away kit of 1926/27. Take those two bits of club history in one shot and you’ve got the basic elements of the new Celtic third kit, unveiled by Nike just yesterday.

We’re familiar with the cutting edge recycled polyester body already…. so with this shirt, we’re really just focused on aesthetic. Nice, in many respects, to see a teams tradition referenced without pandering to overt heritage pulls.

View more of the Celtic Third Kit for 2011/2012 after the leap.

Selectism - number-nine-charles-peterson-blazer-01

LN-CC have just launched their latest archive feature, this time picking up several gems from the now deceased line, Number (N)ine. There’s a shedload of stuff to choose from, but our favourite is this blazer, which uses an image taken by photographer Charles Peterson. Call us crazy (and a lot of you will) but we think this is a great and wearable piece. Well, as wearable as blazer with a picture of a crowd at a concert can ever be. (LN-CC)

Selectism - hope-sweatpants-01

Someone who left a comment originally pointed this out and we have to wonder, how many names do jogging bottoms have these days? It’s almost like people are trying to give an old item a new name to get rid of the mental associations people have with said old item. For instance, these hope sweatpants are called sweat trousers, presumably to make them sound classier than they are. We’re not fooled. In fact, we like because they’re not classy. (C-Store)
