Drakes Knitted Tie

22 June 2011, 11.30 | Posted in Accessories | No comments »

Selectism - drakes-knitted-tie-01

On the rare occasion we do get suited and booted, it’s a knitted tie that’ll grace our necks. Don’t ask why, that’s just the way it is. So it was our right, actually, our duty to flag these up. Perfect for those times when you have to smarten up a tad. Also perfect for those times when you imitate that steezy Italian fellow you saw on a Tommy Ton roundup. (CHCM)

Seil Marschall Orange Backpack

Selectism - seil-marschall-rucksack-01

As Dipset might say, this is a powerful backpack. Why? It’s bright orange for a start. It’s also handmade which, depending on where you stand in the handmade argument, counts for a lot or very little. But, most importantly, it’s orange. (Number Six)

02. John Galliano faces racism trial

“The extent of British designer John Galliano’s long-term addiction to alcohol and prescription drugs is expected to emerge on Wednesday as he stands trial in Paris for racist insults against three people.” (Guardian)

03. The Unathorized story of Haitian Jack

“A can of worms was opened last week when prison inmate Dexter Issac, an associate of hip-hop mogul/gangster James “Jimmy Henchmen” Rosemon, claimed he was paid by Henchmen to rob Tupac at Quad Studios in 1994.” (Spizzyblog)

04. Drake Simps Again

“A few months ago, I asked for help understanding the masses’ love for Drake. I recognize there’s a generational disconnect between he and I, but still…it can’t be that huge. I’m not that old.

I am old enough that I don’t keep up with the kids musically anymore, so today was the first time I listened to “Marvin’s Room.” Suckas are in style, ha? Whiskey.Tango.Foxtrot, people?” (Bomani Jones)

Uniqlo Autumn/Winter 2011

Selectism - uniqlo-autumn-2011-01

Porhomme turns us onto Uniqlo’s latest lookbook. Uniqlo looks to have fallen behind in recent times, overtaken by the mass of brands making chinos and oxfords that bit better than Uniqlo makes them. Has Stella got her groove back? See for yourself after the leap.

nyt candle 01 selectism The Times Of New York Candle

Tobias Wong, may he rest in peace, is responsible for the conception of “The Times of New York Candle.” Produced by Bondtoo – the idea was realized by creative director Josée Lepage – in an edition of 1000, the candle pays homage to the Grey Lady and hints at the scent omitted by old newsprint. Ace Hotel’s Project No. 8 stocks them. Or, get one direct from Bondtoo. (via Refinery).

10A Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

Selectism - 10a-spring-2012-01

Here’s a new brand from Pitti. We’d like to pretend we discovered but, seeing as they received an honourable mention at Pitti’s Who’s On Next award, we can’t do that. The trouser and suspender company are a left step from the usual Italian brands that everyone’s raving about but, like Camo, it’s one to keep an eye on.

Take a leap, see for yourself.
