While Leffot specializes in footwear, the Greenwich Village store also knows hats. Prioritizing Summer cool, these new small brim hats by Borsalino are made from 90% paper fiber and 10% hemp. Coming in bleu or creme, the straw hats can be worn with the brim flipped up or down.

“In celebration of iconic eyewear and film, Italian eyewear legend Persol has unveiled the first of three installments in its PERSOL MAGNIFICENT OBSESSIONS: 30 Stories of Craftsmanship in Film exhibition series,”  The exhibition ran from June 17-19, 2011 at Center 548 in New York City, celebrating the stories of obsessive craftsmanship behind cinema’s most iconic on-screen moments. The logic of the exhibition is simple,  “just as it takes 30 manual steps to create the perfect pair of Persol frames, MAGNIFICENT OBSESSIONS showcases how each instance of cinematic perfection takes hours, weeks or months of painstaking research and craftsmanship to develop and is truly a labor of love.”

Running from June 25 to July 13, 2011 at the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto, an exhibition of archival Gucci bags celebrates cross cultural exchange and the importance of traditional craftsmanship. This unique exhibition also celebrates 90 years of Gucci, the Florence-based brand excelling in leather goods for 9 decades. In line with the historic nature of the objects show, the host space – the Golden Pavilion – also embodies cultural and artistic traditions.

Exhibitions honoring the Gucci legacy are scheduled in Japan for the remainder of 2011.

Like Hublot, Richard Mille releases watches in limited editions. However, RM does so at a smaller, more exclusive scale. The RM 028 Saint-Tropez (a limited edition of the brand’s popular dive watch) takes color cues from yachting (surprise, surprise) and offers a rubber strap. Let’s take a break from the deluge of new collections. Instead, let’s look at the new Swansea kit. They’ve celebrated their promotion to the Premier league by way of teaming with adidas (although no one’s told them that you don’t spell adidas with a  capital a) and making a kit that’s, shall we say, a little less aesthetically pleasing than their previous one.
